Re: Game Discussion
I actually didn't know anyone used horse archers in Westeros. Interesting! Are they locals or mercenaries?
It looks like the combat rules treat all cavalry the same... which is unfortunate, since knights and light cavalry fight and take damage in completely different ways.

Re: Game Discussion
Baelon combined an archer unit with a cavalry unit to create them. I dont think horse archers where mentioned in the books so far.
Regarding light vs heavy cavalry, Carriker (one of thr game developers) actually came up with a light cavalry unit for his own game, but that was/is a house rule and not official. Will try to find the link to it.

Light Horse are often employed as scouts and skirmishers, using their mobility to outflank an enemy. Armed with Spears and Bows, Light Horse can harass an opposing force at range before committing to a melee. Like Cavalry Units, Light Horse use their steeds Endurance and Movement in place of their own.

That's like, let's make an archer unit that is like three times more durable than regular archer units for +1 power, does 1 less damage per DoS, but still.

The former, fair enough. The latter, I meant in terms of ability, not respectability.
Also, I'm a grown-up now, so I don't care what mother thinks!

Yep, the power cost is nowhere near reasonable, fully agree!

Inspired by the tales of the Dothraki, who certainly do have horse archers. Our costumes at the Bartheld Ball were inspired the same way, actually. It ties in with an element of Gwyn's backstory. actually.
Then the Tullisons copied us because we're cool. :8-): :?
[size=50:23l9z1cw]For some definition of 'cool' perhaps...
If your Cavalry/Archers only cost +1 Power, I payed way too much for mine!Theomore Tullison wrote:That's like, let's make an archer unit that is like three times more durable than regular archer units for +1 power, does 1 less damage per DoS, but still.
Cross training costs full price for the second unit type, so while you get a more versatile and durable unit out of it, it is not cost effective for an entire army. Also, you sum all the discipline modifiers, so they are not always as easy to work with as the more disciplined of the unit types.
Also not sure what you mean by less damage per DoS - they all start at 2 in everything and you can train agility for either one... so it should be the same damage.
Unit Costs:
Green Archers: 1(training) +3(Archers) = 4 power, Discipline TN 12
Green Cavalry: 1(training) +5(Cavalry) = 6 power, Discipline TN 6
Green Cavalry/Archers: 1(training) +3(Archers) +5(Cavalry) = 9 power, Discipline TN 9

Check unread topic for the death of another PC after failing a fairly intricate offseason event.
Lord Marsten - this is what was delaying me from handling some of your threads, sorry for the delay.

Lots of Greens gunning for Loreia and Lord Drakeson (a few blacks for the latter too!).
You've taken on a bonkers dangerous job for the period.
Similar can be applied to lots of other PCs.
Mistakes are going to be punished hard from here on in and lots of you have made enemies. Will hopefully make for a grand tale.

Dice gods are unkind - didn't mean to welcome a new player with such a thumping roll in the jousts. At least Ser Alfred won some ransom money in the first round.

Owing people money can lead to some good story. Perhaps Ser Theomore makes him whole as part of some long term scheme, setting up Alfred's eventual appointment to House Tullison etc etc.
Or perhaps Ser Alfred has to involve himself in the Blackwood/Bracken fighting to pay off this debt.
Pleased to win more gold dragons for my vast NPC stash.

Sad to see Sam go. Hopefully House Marsten can spin his intel into something of significance and make his death meaningful.
I say House Marsten because they are the ones with the intel - I'd be glad to help, if there's anything I can do.
It's not GOT if it's safe and warm and fuzzy, right? I knew Baelon would be an enemy magnet since character creation. He's an obvious Daemon-proxy for anyone two cowardly/smart to strike directly at Daemon, not to mention the enemies Baelon makes honestly... and everyone makes enemies for stupid reasons like envy.
Making another one at King's Landing right now... at least this one's a Green. That bothers me less than making Black enemies.

Base off opponent's armour plus horse, horse ransom per round set somewhere in this thread - sorry, just heading out:

Plus a shield!
Remember to net off ransoming your own stuff.

Re: Game Discussion
OK, looks like a square defeat for me ! I'll ponder taking either a wound or an injury, going to read up on that.
As for the ransom, we'll see ! Basically, my first opponents horse will decide matters, if its a rounsey like mine, I'll be in the red. If its a destrier or courser, I think I'll be about even with some spare change for my troubles. So the suspense is still there ! ^^

Thanks! Found it.
Reader wrote:Ransoms - we'll not be playing these out, lest I go insane. If someone defeats a particularly interesting NPC or a cheat, that may well lead to a scene. Otherwise we'll handwave this.
You can choose to keep your opponent's equipment instead. Many of them won't like this, so please note if you're keeping equipment on your character sheet.
Each round
Armour ransom = look up value based on opponent's AR
Round 1
Horse = Rounsey
Round 2
Horse = Courser
