By the age of thirty, every man has the sense of humour he deserves, as Orwell didn't say.

Re: Game Discussion
I think "in bed with the Greens" or at least "a green" more aptly describes Corinne than Theo at the moment.
Alright, I'm done. I blame my sleep- and coffee- deprived state for my current sense of humor. Maybe going back to bed a spell will fix something in my brain.
Not bloody likely...
We all make mistakes. And it's probably not as bad as you think.
I hope a rest helped. I too am pretty sleep-deprived. Insomnia is kicking my arse.

In the words of Flavor Flav, "Yeah boi, tell it like it is".
House Marsten competes with House Coldbrook for foolish nobility, or noble foolishness. Following through on IC motives, pleasing to see.

Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:"Nathan was surprisingly callous about it. He was in favour of just returning the poor girl, for the sake of keeping our lives quiet. I disagreed with him, but I understand his reasoning. She is one person, and this is a gamble that risks our family. He agreed to help if needed, and I trust him to keep this quiet, despite his caution about not trusting everyone, like I do too often."
She sighed sadly.
" You see, I thought about it, and what sort of person am I if I let someone suffer just to protect my own interests? That would be what my mother would do. It's what she did to House Kriegar, and I never want to let down or abandon those who need me. I never want to be like her. Lily is not just a girl. She represents something. She stands for all I wish to help and protect. If I say I stand for the empowerment of women, but let one remain powerless when I can help liberate her, then my values are not my values, they are merely hobbies. If I send her back to her father, I am a hypocrite that is likely condemning her to a fate worse than death."
She looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
"The Gods have sent me this test. I am sure of it. They want to know if I am truly righteous, or if I will compromise my principles and morality for an easier life."

Re: Game Discussion
For all that she often fails, Corrine really does want to be a good person. It's that pesky impulsive violet voice in her head that is the problem.

Fixed that for you.Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:For all that she often fails, Corrine really does want to be a good person. It's that pesky impulsive violet voice in her head that is entertaining for others.
In all seriousness, Corinne would be kind of a boring character without her impulsiveness. Also, sometimes she is at her best when she follows her impulses, not her worst. Her impulses, it seems to me, are not selfish or self-centered per se, rather it is when she knows instantly what she wants and to hell with the consequences. Sometimes those are selfish desires, sometimes those are desires for the world to be right and good and happy for everyone. She's a genuinely good person, not someone who puts on a veneer of caring for others to hide the rottenness within... and sometimes her impulsiveness leads her to do what is right, not what is good enough and expedient. Of course, she's only human, so sometimes those impulses aren't for what's right or good or happy for everyone. That unpredictability is what keeps her interesting, though.

I'm guessing they're like this?
Violet = selfish, impulsive, emotive
Green = big picture, rational, cold... "Mother", lol

Re: Game Discussion
With the change over, loss of an accurate "view unread posts" button and overwhelming amount of events going on at once, I am having a hard time figuring out where I should be at times. If I am needed some where please let me know by PM. If there is an event or post you think I should be in and I am not, let me know please.

Re: Game Discussion
The worst is looking at non- red forums and see that someone has posted recently, but it never became red. Mind blown.

Re: Game Discussion
Hm. I've not had that problem. Weird. Is there any noticeable pattern?
Oh wait - if you don't read the red threads before you log off, they are no longer "new" since your last visit - and thus not red. I think Walton was having the same issue.

Re: Game Discussion
I'm mostly seeing the problem with private threads/subforums. House Forums always wants my attention, and then Bartheld (and I get all excited), and then I see it's some other character's private forum...but even trying to hit "mark all as read," it stays red on me. Constantly teasing.

Re: Game Discussion
Odd that doesn't happen to me, Baelon. Once red always red, until I go to the thread and actually read it.
I'm having the issue Aerion is, where there are hidden forums that mean my House Forum thread is always red. Hee hee.

Yeah if you're inactive for a period of time, red goes away. I just open the page "posts since last visit" and keep that open in a new tab if I'm leaving and I'm gonna come back.
Yeah I'm guessing it's just not counting the threads you don't have access to.

Re: Game Discussion
Hmm. It might be an issue of browser cookies being cleared... or if you use multiple devices. A whole new forum's worth of foibles to learn!
As for the always-red House Forums, I find the "mark all read" on the main page clears it (briefly, until someone else posts something)... but that clears ALL the red, so I try to just deal with the red tease.

Gwyneth, my dear, this gives you a Status 6 NPC. If you spend a DP to convert one of those bonus die, you will get a Status 8. Remember all DP refresh at the beginning of Phase 1. Quite the coup either way.
(Prince Aegon is an 8... and he has just the type of personality to be there. Decisions, decisions.)

Oh, that's no decision at all. I completely missed that bonus dice was high enough.
Consider it done! I have a DP I can spare for this.

I wish I could tell you it was him, but that is strictly Reader territory. I honestly don't know who any of the people are there beyond the narratively inconsequential.
(I am secretly hoping the Wildling guy I dallied with is Lord Forrest Frey, but that is probably just wishful thinking. Nathan has a mad crush on him.)

Yep, I figured. Still, it's a very helpful tip to point out I was so close. Thanks!
