House Martell Sends its Regards Empty House Martell Sends its Regards

"House Martell sends its regards," yelled Ser Quentyrn Yronwood, hurling his lance in to dry earth in front of the Targaryen Host, repeating the words Lord Wyl had instructed him to utter, even if he did not understand their intent. Still, he may not have known politics, but he knew warfare.

He vaulted from his horse, despite his reputation as a champion jouster, loyally following his instructions.

"I would face you man to man, steel to steel. My grandfather fought a white cloak blade to blade and triumphed for the glory of Dorne. Let us both bring honour to our predecessor this day with our blades."

He bowed in formal challenge to his foe.

The story of Ser Jorah the just had reached as far as Dorne, and Ser Quentyn was confident that his honourable challenge would be favourably received.

House Martell Sends its Regards Empty Re: House Martell Sends its Regards

Post by Ser Jorah Holt Sat Dec 10, 2016 9:19 pm

Ser Jorah had received a troubling raven just before news that House Wyl were mounting an attack from their tunnels was received. Ser Jorah had gathered up a response force intending to defeat the Dornoch forces and destroy the tunnels.

Ser Jorah rode out at the head of the force as Ser Quentyn issued his message and challenge. Without a word, he got down from Argo, handing the reins to Trelane who looked worried about Ser Jorah. The expression on the Knight's face was not one he'd seen before.

"You have delivered your message and my response to you is that this duel will see no quarter. There will be no ransom and by the end, one of us will lie dead in the sand. Your masters have sent you to your death this day."

Ser Quentyn swallowed - this was not the Ser Jorah of the songs, or that Lord Wyl had told him of.

Still, he had faith in his swordsmanship and his honour as a knight to defend. Guard the way, he intoned to himself, drawing strength from his family's strong words. Did he not guard the way against foreign interlopers today?

"So be it!" he yelled with conviction, drawing his sword. "No quarter!"

Jorah goes first

Jorah drew his sword and stepped forward.
"You have been made the messenger for a murder. I am returning the first part of my message to House Martell and House Gargelon."

His sword danced around Ser Quentyn, leaving him barely able to cope with Ser Jorah's attacks as his sword slipped through his guard.

Ser Quentyn rapidly realised he was outmatched, trying to slam his white clad foe from his feet and finding him immoveable.

The young knigh thre all his efforts in to defence, trying to buy an opportunity to recover, or at least a few more precious second of life.

Jorah attacked again, his face implacable, but Ser Quentyn's defensive tactics prevented a blow that would hurt him.

Ser Quentyn had gathered his wits after Ser Jorah's initial furious assault, and slammed his shield in to foe, but failed to take advantage of his superior position.

Ser Jorah leapt to his feet, determination driving him forward as his blow smashed through Ser Quentyn's guard into a gap in his armour, sinking deep into his shoulder.

"They sent to be their messenger to announce their part in a murder. They sent you knowing that you would die. Do you think that is worthy of loyalty?"

Dazed and bloodied, Ser Quentyn fights for pride now, desperate to shed Ser Jorah's blood before his strength fails him. He attempts to ignore Jorah's words, keen not to die with doubt in his heart, physically shaking them off.

He drops his shield, a great cry of "Dorne!" ringing clear as he puts all his remaining might in to a two-handed stroke.

Free action: drop shield
Greater action: Attack Jorah: 7d6k6-5 18 - 7 Damage per DoS = 14 - 12AR = 2 damage

Jorah ignored the scrape from Ser Quentyn as his blow backhanded him across the floor unconscious.

"You die when I decide!" He announced dragging him to one side.

"Your life is mine," Jorah said, more for the other people listening rather than to Ser Quentyn, who lay unconscious on the floor "and I will deal with you afterwards."
