[D2, ME] A meal with a maester

Ben and Ellie had readied the pavilion, tidying and setting a table. They had acquired honey roasted capons, a wedge of hard sharp cheese, a bowl of various nuts, pickled beets and black bread from the camp kitchen. The table was set for three and lit by candles and braziers at the corners of the tent. Rain pattered on the dense canvas. A slight chill breeze stirred the tent flaps.

Ellie slumped into a chair unceremoniously her leg flopping over the arm rest. "
Whew. I hope Maester Haelis accepts your invitation. I would hate for all this to go to waste."
She sweeps her arm across the room. Ben just smiles and nods, looking to the entrance.

The young maester shuffled in to the room, a thick ledger beneath one arm and various flowers and plants peering forth from a pocket in his robes.

"
My thanks for hosting me Ser Benedict - even the rigours of the Citadel couldn't cure me of my weakness for strong cheeses. We've had a damp start to the tourney, but I trust Stone Endures and our house has given a good account of itself so far?"

Ben moves to the entrance to greet Haelis. "
You are most welcome Maester Haelis. Thank you for spending sometime with us on this"
Ben looks out the flap. "
rainy eve. And yes, Stone Endures, I believe we did well both in the hunt and pageantry."


Ben moves to pull a seat out for Haelis. "
Please have a seat Maester. A drink perhaps? We have water, wine, or for the brave Black Tar rum."
Ben waits for Haelis to be seated appraising the man.

Ben did well at the rings and the dummy. He even caught the eye of many houses I believe, surely Stone does Endure."


Ellie looks curiously at the ledger under Haelis' arm and then to the assorted flowers and plants. "
Maester are those flowers for me?"
She says jokingly.

Ben shakes his head,laughing, at the thought of being defeated by a library.

He gives Haelis a warm smile.

No doubt I'll make it up to the library at some point this week, I have been too occupied with ledgers and collecting herbs to replenish our supplies. Little and less of the rarer herbs grow in our mountains."

Ben raises his cup of water to toast. "

With that he gives a small laugh.

Ellie speaks up directly. "

She takes a sip her wine.
