There are so many ways this plan could go oh so horribly wrong. And I have absolutely no valid reason for being here.

Daveth Coldbrook was in the Baratheon camp, of all places, carrying his maester's bag with him, following directions to Ser Byron Swann, Edwin in tow.

Arriving at the knight's tent, Daveth casually looks around before announcing himself to the man's page, with a friendly smile. "
Daveth Coldbrook. I understand Ser Byron might be a bit under the weather? I'm here to try and help. May I enter?"

Daveth is ushered through by the page, who seems keen to have someone else bear his master's wrath.

Ser Byron Swann looks white as a sheet, with vomit crusted in his beard.

Despite this, he seems gamely intent on fitting on vambraces and greaves for the day's jousting.

Even before Daveth approaches, a wave of alcohol fumes hit him.

Leaving Edwin outside, Daveth enters, ignoring the smell, face a friendly, professional smile.

"
Ser Bryron?"
he begins, his voice loud enough to be heard, but quiet enough to not irritate the hungover. "
My name is Daveth Coldbrook. I'm trying to improve my house's reputation, and when I heard that a just and noble knight had been inconvenienced by drink, I thought that this was a perfect opportunity to introduce myself, and help you overcome your ill-fortune quickly enough so that it doesn't affect your joust today. I have a moderate talent in the healer's arts. If you're willing, it would be my honour to do my best to ensure you're at your best this afternoon. If you could go over your symptoms in detail, I'll prepare you something that I think will help."

Please be too hungover to spot the massive holes in my explanation.

Fortunately, Ser Byron is much too focused on the possibility of a hangover cure to focus on little details, and readily, if rather unclearly, goes over his symptoms.

(OOC: results received over PM)

Hmmm. Daveth considers. Well, probably for the best. For him, at least. He uses herbs from his maester's bag to brew up a big pot of herbal tea, from a recipe tested many times on his brother, and more than a few on himself, to help recover quickly from hangovers, all the while keeping a quiet patter going, so that Ser Byron doesn't need to do more than occasionally grunt in order to feel like he's being hospitable.

[OOC: Ser Byron's disposition improves to amiable]

The knight seems mollified by Daveth's bedside manner, and his slowly improving mood even coaxes his page to return to the room.

He still reeks of alcohol, and shouldn't be jousting.

"
You might not be a maester, but at least I don't feel like my head is between a fucking dragon's jaws any more."

"
I must be getting old, I swear my the Seven I only had a cup or two. I feel like I've drunk a brewer dry."

There are too many innocent explanations for the true one to stick. Best to just play dumb.

"
Well, that's certainly *possible*"
though Daveth's tone conveys his personal doubt. "
Though rather more often, I find that either pleasant company makes the cups pass by far quicker than you realise;
or maybe the servers misinterpreted a gesture or misheard a word, and entirely innocently started serving you something stronger."
a smile and a shrug. "
Such things happen to the best of us, I'm afraid.

"
Regardless of the cause, drink plenty of tea and water, and try and have a decent breakfast. Hopefully, you'll be recovered enough by the time of the joust to give it your all."
and hopefully screw up whatever the fuck Ser Theomore was trying to do here.

(OOC: a few pleasantries, and I let him get on with things. A small wrench thrown into an insignificant gear, but it's something. /scene)
