Theomore has enough to worry about than to take note of Lord Tully's eagerness for coin. Finding Dunstan before he decided to do something rash was his number one priority.

Ser Jorah watched the proceedings. He found it curious that House Tully had yet again demanded a large amount of coin from a house. Were they in some form of financial difficulty?

Many great lords and knights are present, observing the chaos. While impossible to hold a conversation with them among the chaos, this is an opporunity to read several guests for their reactions to events.

[OOC: thanks to Corrine for creating this. Everyone can join this thread, even if present in another thread in this timeslot.

You can choose up to two NPCs to try to observe with Awareness (Empathy)

"
Saying that the Tullys should shoulder the cost is just foolish,"
Corrine replied, staring in concern at Athelstan and Yoren. "
Bold, but foolish. The Longshores really should be sorting out reparations between themselves. A concession to Lord Tully would surely have gotten them less attention."

"
They're ironborn,"
points out Gwyn with a chuckle. "
When did they ever do the sensible thing?"

She seems entirely in too good a mood for the gravity of the situation. It perhaps seems incongruous until she gloats, "
I told you they were trouble. I knew something was afoot...but killing a possible heir in plain day on a crowded field? He should be begging Lord Tully to keep him in the dungeons. It might keep him alive at least until the Lord of Longshore could pass judgement."

"
I fail to see how they are more trouble than certain other Houses,"
Corrine replied, leaving unsaid the implications. "
At least these ones are honest about who they are. I believe Athelstan Pyke's story. Why would he kill his brother in front of witnesses if it was his intent? When one wishes to get away with murder, one chooses a more clandestine location. And calling him a liar just because he is a bastard is just wrong. It's hardly his fault."

Post by Daveth Coldbrook Tue May 05, 2015 9:52 pm

Daveth frowns in thought as he watches, standing next to Ser Jorah. And I thought it would be the other Ironborn that would kill Yoren. Had I taken the time earlier to let him vent his emotions over his brother's death, would he be so reckless now?

Daveth's eyes try and pick up on the cues from those more politically aware than he, but not so much that they'd reveal nothing. A raven can feast on the scraps from a giant's table.

"
Yes they are honest about who they are, stubborn even in the face of death..."
Kevin remarks, stepping to the already present Marsten household. "
I don't know anything about the bastard, but Yoren, I've met before. I never seen him like that though, he seems to be a completely different person among his Ironborn kin..."

His eyes scan the great hall, eager to see the reaction of the royalty to the drama in front of them.

(I will probably fall on my own sword and lose a leg during melee, when orokos' favor compensates for all these rolls... Shocked )

"
It's not going to matter much longer if he goes on like that,"
Gwyn says, but the impish glee of schadenfreude has ebbed from her voice. She actually seems a bit concerned.

"
Kevan, Corrine...maybe we should find a more distant vantage to watch this play out. If things get any worse, there could be unintended casualties."

"
I ran into him here at Riverrun today, where we talked only briefly. However, when I was still a squire, I got to know him, a young traveler without the worries of a potential heir. He was a fierce, yes, but never foolish..."

He turns to Gwyneth, suddenly concerned for the safety of the two noble women of House Marsten. Keeping his left hand near the Sword on his side, he nods.

"
Yes, maybe we should stay a bit closer to the doors, this situation could explode any second..."

Corrine listens over the din in the room, and her brow furrows.

"
Perhaps he has other goals in mind then."

Oh no,"
Gwyn agreed hastily. "
We'll see how this ends. Just from a bit farther back. And, as Ser Lyras suggests, from much closer to a door."

Gwyneth looks around, squinting a little in the dimly lit, smoky hall, then nods and points to a spot, making sure Kevan sees it.

"
Not too quickly,"
she says, "
we don't want to start a panic."

One arm hooked through Kevan's, the other through Corrine, Gwyn starts making her way towards that door...not too fast though. Trusting the clamor of the room to keep the attention on the floor, and the drama unfolding there.

Post by Baelon Drakeson Wed May 06, 2015 3:34 am

Baelon works his way to the Marsten group from the other side of the hall, where he had been drumming up support for his bid to lead a melee team when the trial started.

"
This sort of thing is exactly why I said we should not try to recruit the Ironborn against the clans. They are too unpredictable, too rash."

He tries to gauge how the Prince and Princess felt about the situation, but the chaos is too great.

Corrine opened her mouth to debate that point, but closed it again, folding her arms and looking back through the crowd, craning to try and catch what Yoren and Athelstan were getting closer to Lord Tully to say.

Post by Dunstan Tullison Wed May 06, 2015 11:23 am

Dunstan walks in the Hall in his best clothes. He was angry at the kinslayer earlier today, and cursed every word and every step he shared with the ironborn during this tourney but now - it was all past. Now he was pondering being the Faiths champion!

Eating a sour green apple he had a mischevious grin to him as he walked to Gwyn

"
Hey Gwyn!"

Considering his ponderings about the Tullys, he checked the reactions of some of their people.

Perhaps he should stand as champion for the Faith, but he wasn't certainly he believed Athelstan was entirely in the wrong. Certainly there was doubt even among the witnesses. His own brother didn't seem to think him guilty, but then he had the most to gain.
