"
Uncle"
Dunstan said upon seeing Theomore, and than continued observing the trial - making note of the two Tully boys.

Re: [Day 3: Early Evening] Observing Judgement (Open)
So intent was Gwyn on trying to gauge the reaction of Prince and Princess to the slowly dissipating tension that when Dunstan accosted her it took her a moment to register. She looked around at him, wide-eyed and made a startled squeaky noise before readjusting to the situation.
"
Dunstan! I...hello! Ser Theomore."
Her head was spinning a little. Why was Dunstan so...pleased looking? He couldn't possibly be cynical enough to be enjoying the scene for its own sake.
What was he up to?
Quickly she echoed his smile, and pressed up closer to him.
"
Forgive me,"
she said demurely. "
It's hard to hear with all this noise. It's good to see you...a comfort. For a moment there I was half-expecting a fight to break out in here."

"
Ser Ben"
Dunstan says without looking, very unusual occurance since he is normally excited to see friends and family. Now, he didn't even turn his gaze away.
Chewing the apple he threw the remains to the floor of the Great Hall stepped forward with a raised fist and said : "
I will volunteer to be Faith's Champion!"
very very loudly.

"
A kinslayer does not deserve that honor, my lord"
Theomore speaks softly.
It's time for:

Objective: Get Dunstan to drop such foolish notions
Dispositon, friendly, DR 2.
Intrigue Defense: 10
Composure: 9

Gwyneth's eyes widened at that, and her mouth fell open in a little 'O' of absolute horror.
She looked at Ser Theomore, torn between suspecting that he was responsible for this and appealing to him to talk some sense into the boy!

In case Theomore's words fall on deaf ears. Ben doesn't not grab Dunstan as he would like, but instead steps with him. "
My Lord Dunstan please let me champion for House Tullison in this trial, you would do me great honor."

Corrine curtsies politely when Dunstan, Theomore, and Ben show up, but only offers Ben a tight smile, her eyes belying how lost and anxious she feels.

Action: Quit intrigue - OOC: Dunstan is pumped and stepped in front of the great hall. There will probably be a massive reaction in the crowd, don''t think he will listen to anyone let alone intrigue.
"
Aye Ser Ben! I'm glad to hear so! Lord Tully can choose his champion now, since both of us applied! I call any true man to volunteer and be the champion of the Seven against Athelstan the Kinslayer! "
Dunstan walked around with both hands in the air shouting through the masses.

Re: [Day 3: Early Evening] Observing Judgement (Open)
Gwyneth sagged in relief. Surely Lord Tully would not be so crass as to choose a Lord to engage in life or death conflict with a killer like that ironborn.
She covered her mouth and tried to calm down, but her heart was still racing after that too-long moment of not beating at all.
Thank you, Benedict. I know it wasn't for my sake, but thank you.

Corrine stares, horrified, at Dunstan's shouting and waving. She glances around the rest of the group as he wanders off;
"
Lives are at stake! It's not some game! Why does he say such a thing?!"

"
Because he's Dunstan,"
Gwyn said morosely. "
Because he doesn't understand what his life means, or how..."
She shakes her head, putting a hand to her temple. "
...how easy it is to lose it."

"
Quite so, my lady"
Theomore agrees. "
But if I might be excused? I fear the duty to my house requires my attentions to be elsewhere."
There is a sense of urgency as he does not wait long for any sort of approval, now he had to find the Mallisters before Tully might name Dunstan as his champion.

Loreia is most focused on Lord Tully, feeling the heat of his red face from her spot in the gathering. However, she sees a familiar face among the gathered, and wonders at how Jon Roxton must be taking the events currently unfolding, and briefly passes over the other Tullys, lingering on Dermot, who appears the least composed of all of them.

Whoops, typo in the results, accidentally typed "
13"
for my test vs Dermot.
Then, when the commotion lessens as Dunstan leaps into the role as Rodrric's champion, her nerves fire and ripple at the back of her mind. The Coldbrooks and the Tullisons are a bit closer together than they were during the feast yesterday and at Bread and Salt at the arrival of the Targaryens, just enough for her to overhear their quarreling, and edges closer to them.

Ironmen are brash, but not stupid, m'lady,"
Loreia butts in with attempt to reassure her, but subtle worry slips through, discordantly coloring her tone. "
I'm sure the one on trial would accept a yield."

"
He killed the son of their lord,"
Gwyn says sharply, whirling to look at Loreia. "
Why not take the next step? More importantly, why take the risk? For what?"
She closed her eyes for a moment, calming herself, then nodded at Loreia. "
Forgive me. I'm...this is very upsetting. Excuse me, please."
With that, Gwyn hurried away...in the same direction Ser Theomore had gone.
...
She pushed through the crowd, looking for the back of Theomore's head.
"
Ser Theomore!"
she called when she saw him. "
A moment, please!"
When Gwyn caught up, a bit breathless, she said, "
If where you're off to is about Dunstan...I want to help. Please."

Re: [Day 3: Early Evening] Observing Judgement (Open)
EDIT: Curse me for being a slow typer. At least the first part of the would have been before Gwyn left...
He puts his hand on Gwyn's shoulder, comfortingly.
"
Gwyn, I'll... do what I can."
I can't believe I'm sticking my neck out like this in an incident I care nothing about, but should Dunstan fall, Gwyn would be devastated and she deserves better than that. Damn you, Dunstan, you bull-headed idiot.
He steps forth beside Lord Dunstan, and raises his voice to be heard over the crowd.
"
Lord Gorman, surely this kinslaying scum of an Ironborn is not worth risking one of your beloved vassal lords. I offer myself as champion instead. A bastard against a bastard, what could be more fitting?"
EDIT: if needed

"
Two pair of eyes are indeed better than one, my lady"
Theomore gives her a quick smile before his eyes goes back to the crowd. "
I should like to find Lord Mallister, they do not much like the Ironborn at Seagard, and Lord Tully would surely not pick Dunstan over a man of such reputation should he step forward."

Gwyn opens her mouth to answer Ser Theomore when another voice rings out;
a familiar one.
She turns slowly around, horror again transfixing her features.
For a moment all she can do is sway, torn in opposite directions by forces equal and opposing. Then her brain managed to fight through the fog of pointless adrenalin and clutch desperately onto a solution.
Ser Mallister, yes. He'd choose Ser Mallister! He HAS to!
Quickly Gwyneth turned back to Ser Theomore, with nothing but focus now on her face. This was her way out and she would take it.
"
A sound plan. We will find him."

Ben acknowledged his catapult into the running for a champion. "
Lord Tully,"
He bowed. "
I am Ser Benedict Blackthorne sworn sword to Lord Dunstan and I offer you my sword to champion the seven."
His voice loud enough to be heard but not shouting, no disparaging remarks or negative talk.. His demeanor neutral. He stands stoically still, a disturbing calmness.Well what have you gone and done now?

Corrine does not recognise this woman, but she does nod in agreement with her words. Her solace is short-lived though, as both Baelon and Ben call out their offers to fight Athelstan. Corrine feels a creeping dread wrap its tendrils around her.
Too many people have a care for are involved in this now. But I can do absolutely nothing.
She tries to hold her composure, but her voice has a telltale quiver of anxiety, and her gaze is unable to rest on Loreia as she speaks, glancing worriedly over at the assembly at Lord Tully's feet;
"
I don't believe we've been introduced. I am Lady Corrine Marsten."

Daemon had chosen the right man for the job.
Lord Petyr Mallister was a skilled tourney knight and no friend to the Ironborn, having suffered many raids over the years. He's enjoying the chaos that has hit the Ironborn, and makes no effort to hide it.
Whatever offer Theomore was about to make was quickly superseded by the wide variety of knights willing to main Athelstan for justice, political advantage or simply love of blood.
"
Think I should leave this to one the pups? We older dogs have won enough glory in our lives, most unsporting of you to dominate the pageant like that,"
he jests.
[OOC: he moves to amiable with Theomore and Gwyn, assuming you make the offer discussed with Theomore via pm, please mark this on your character sheet - resolving this rapidly as it has been overtaken by events!]

"
Ser Mallister,"
Gwyn says, with a courteous bow. Despite the formality, her emotions are boiling close to the surface now...a far cry from her usual poise. "
There is a man who has volunteered for this duty who is dear to me, and...I can't bear the thought of seeing him matched against that creature in a fight that may end in death."
Her voice trembles as she sacrifices her pride on the altar of devotion. "
I beg you, ser. This man's claim to be champion is strong, but nowhere near as strong as yours. You can do more than uphold justice and repay the ironborn with steel right now. You can preserve the life of an innocent man, who is doing the wrong thing for the right reason."

Forgive me, Lady Corrine. I met your sister in the market yesterday. I only wished to calm her, but now, I'm hopeful that mightn't be necessary."
She turns her gaze toward the three men offering their swords. "
Honestly, I'm concerned that Dunstan wouldn't offer a yield. The Tullisons can't afford to lose him."
"
Neither can the Marstens, it seems."
She casts a glance back at Gwyneth, who had taken off after Theomore, and returning her attention to Corrine. "
She must be well acquainted with him."
