Norges Bank or something even more exciting? Well done, internships are hellishly competitive. Standards much higher than when I was entering my career!

Wow, that sounds interesting! Hope it goes well.
Have you read "
The Economist's tale"
? It's about Sierra Leone rather than Uganda but it's good on data gathering challenges in developing economies etc.
Afraid I'm fairly ignorant on Africa, only cover Asia professionally.

I will be around for story 3, but likely have to make a break afterwards as my 'sabatical' got approved and I will be travelling for 4 months this fall

Nothing overly exotic: Southeast asia, australia, middle america and back to europe. Specific planning is something my better half is mostly in charge of

Sounds like a great trip.
Most familiar with SE Asia due to work. Try to go to Vietnam so you can make "
hilarious"
Dong jokes about their currency/see paintings of turtles delivering the royal sword. Maybe we can get one to deliver up a Valyrian sword if events follow canon and one disappears...
Indonesia is worth a visit too - it has got more to offer than just Bali (not that Bali is terrible). Thailand is excellent too - lots of "
party"
stuff going on, but cultural activities too. Don't be put off by the coup (I went immediately after it, was an excellent trip as all the other investors pulled out due to safety worries/lack of insurance). Cambodia/Laos - haven't been (too small to visit for work). Going to try to go to Myanmar/Burma in the next year or so.
Good time to go to Australia, A$ has fallen through the floor due to the commodity slump.

Been absent because a bug was going around recently. I got it bad yesterday, but today I am feeling much better.

I know I have the Arrest and Siege, but been busy with house change to sit and do a proper intro for the Arrest with babies and children running and crying it gets a tad crazy.
Will try to put something up soon for arrest, the moment I catch a long enough breath to try an make a good scene at least.

Back today, apologies for slower going - moving floors in our office this weekend and a very important meeting on Monday, more available from then.

Re: AFK thread
More building repair tedium has occupied me tonight. One resident wants an alternate repair external service used, and then we've got the excitement of the internal repairs (which may involve corralling the other flat owners once more).
Would that I lived in Glasgow where a factor would have taken care of all of this (and the cost of my flat would have bought me a house anyway!).
Still, many others have more serious financial or health problems, important to have some perspective on all this!
Apologies to all for delay.

Sorry from me as well. Had a weirdly busy weekend involving furniture and...well, it has a happy ending, but not much time online to post.

Snowed under with lawyer stuff post work today (but at least it's potentially positive news on building repairs). Sorting out the damage and corraling eight property owners (or even worse, letting agents) is taking far more time than I expected. Very sorry to everyone waiting.

Re: AFK thread
Round 1 of Lawyer stuff handled (well, sent for their review, waiting for their changes and then to send it out to other parties).
Tentatively back in action later this week. Remain very sorry and appreciative of all the hard work the players have put in.

I'll warn people before I go on work travel! Was in Thailand for the coup (actually super safe for locals). Some smart-arse will now ask "
which Thai coup"
? A fair question, country has had many!
Managing to hit a few PMs tonight.
c50% through with my insurer and hitting major milestones on getting the repairs approved by the rest of the building.

we've been mostly on hold as Reader deals with real life issues. A conveniently timed interruption for me at least - it has corresponded with my end of semester workload spike. 30 or so more pages to write, an exam to finalize, give, and grade, then I am FREE.... free to return my focus to a behind schedule thesis, that is. Academia is too Promethian for me to ever be truly free. "
My passion, my pleasure, my pain"
to quote or paraphrase someone more eloquent than myself.

Near breakthrough on house stuff (nearly sorted repairs/insurance, touch wood. Hard to organise 8 different flats), so hopefully more active this week. Sorry all.

In other news, I'm not going to be able to be on much for the next week or so- just too much to do wrapping up the semester.
