Re: Against the Mountain Clans
I don't think I have a big part, so I can probably be Arlyns sub commander

Yoren you will be needed to command as either yourself or Leifnar.
We will need someone to run Garret(Daveth?), and Jon Roxton(Nathan?).

I can run Garret if needs be, but wouldn't Loreia be a better choice? She'll be there IC, acting as his bodyguard, but has no other duties on the warfare scale.

True. That is unless she plans to attack units. Its up to you guys really. I was just hoping to get as many PCs involved as possible.

With how "
well-earned"
my victory over Arrand was, I'm not really trusting my chances against another commander NC, unless these fights are a day apart. Let's assume I'm relatively nearby, occupied with keeping Garrett clear of flanking enemies of the minion variety. Near for when story demands participation, but mechanically fighting with the rest of the unit.

So do you want to make the maps or have the nc commaders set their units up first?

Re: Against the Mountain Clans
Perhaps once we have established all the commanders a non combatant/neutral party can create the maps. We could also let each side design one map.
Anyone else have any ideas for an impartial way to handle it?

Okay, so since you're going to be part of the same unit mechanically, do you want to drive Garret doing his subcommander duties? Since you'll be taking damage with the unit he's most likely to be commanding (due to his relatively low skill), it makes the most sense, though unless the unit is destroyed, I don't think you're in danger of taking any injuries.Loreia Merrgal wrote:With how "

Well you see, when I said that, I hadn't even bothered with the section in the corebook explaining the warfare system. I have now, and it doesn't look fun.

Okay. It doesn't look that bad to me, so I'll drive Garret doing his subcommander thing.
...and will try my best to not get him killed.

Well, before we can create maps we would need the context of each battle;
defending a village would need a different map than engaging a force in the field. We should come up with a side-neutral context for each battle. Once we have those, maps can be made by anyone. Then we would randomly (or semi-randomly, perhaps with opposed tests by our scouting units?) determine which side is the offense or defense, and if not predetermined by the map, randomly determine the starting areas of the map.

I think I have both the old border princes and the dnd equivalent, wouldn't it be possible to just roll random terrain using one of these books?

With dnd equivalent I mean fields of blood.

Re: Against the Mountain Clans
For the love of . I'll make a map for Ben and his soldiers(Dulver), what do I need to know? And what page in the rulebook should I look at? Probably put everything anyone would need to know about making the warfare maps in one post in the clans thread(they probably could use some updates).

Re: Against the Mountain Clans
Given the need to push on, both battles are simply pitched battles with a mix of mountains, hills, forest and clear flat areas. Nothing as complex as a mountain pass or village raid.
Top mention of Banjo. I'm more of a Banjo-thulu worshipper myself.

Re: Against the Mountain Clans
Don't forget the Tullison Mountaineers with Ser Mather Warrens at their head.
Not that they're much good beyond hiding being to throw whatever they have at hand at some wildling scum that gets close.

I don't think they are listed in either group.

Re: Against the Mountain Clans
-So, with Yoren dropping out, we need another subcommander, any ideas?
-Yoren: Yes, from a meta point of view that would make sense to make Leifnar the commander, but IC, we cannot have an Ironborn in full command of the whole campaign on Marsten grounds (Ew politics and stuff :;
): )

I'm not dropping out, I'm just going to stay in a unit to confer the +1d... it is just a better way to use me during the campaign...

I meant "
dropping out as a commander"
:;
): As I understand it, attaching to a unit (as a hero) does not take on of the subcommander spots
