[D2 EM] Borderlands before Breakfast(Closed)

[Luecian LongBow]

Luecian rides out to the borderlands between Houses Blackwood and Darry with a contingent of guards on orders from Ser Garred. He heads out early in the morning skipping breaking his fast, anxious to get this investigation complete and begin to prepare for the afternoons hunt.

Speaking to smallfolk he comes along during his borderland investigation, Luecian does his best to tell each what they want to hear and even hints there might be some silver in it for any that provide helpful information. He uses House Dulver's reputation as a wealthy house to aid his endeavor

Luecian feels at home along the outskirts of the borderlands, he searches and seems to find a few interesting tracks that might be related to the incursions given their location and condition.

Looking around at the different incursion locations, he considers conversations both his father(a lifelong soldier) and Ser Garred have had with him in the past around the art of war.

Leaving the borderlands and heading back towards Royal campsite, Luecian and the House Dulver soldiers acting as his escort spot a knight traveling just ahead. The knight appears familiar and is traveling currently at a slow pace as if he was lost in his own thoughts. As they are gaining on the knight and would soon ride up beside him, Luecian calls out a greeting as to not take the knight unawares. "
Ser Knight, Please not be alarmin, me and me fellow house dulver men would be riding with ya if ye don't mind. The roads be dangerous Ser, and I do believe we be headin in the same direction."
As he rides up near the knight, he continues "
Name's Luecian good Ser, but most call me Luecian LongBow. I do be believing I've seen ye before but I do not be thinking we woulda met."

Kevan turns around as the voice calls him. "
By the Seven, that is now the second time in less than a day that I got surprised by a number of soldiers at this very same space! I should probably start to take an escort myself."

He eyes the Dulver men-at-arms and introduces himself.
"
Master Luecian, nice to meet you. I am Ser Kevan Lyras, Sworn Sword of House Marsten. Did you take part in our campaign against the mountain clans? I remember, we were supported by archers from House Dulver..."

Luecian shakes his head and response but waves a hand towards some of the present soldiers who give the appearance as archers. "
Well met Ser. No meself was not present during House Marsten's campaign, but a few of me friends here were and me own pa was as well. Hard times for our men there and hard questions some might say but battles be a chancy thing eh."
Waving a hand towards the right side of his face, he continues. "
Damn stupid think to do but got me self caught in a melee with a shadowcat and was still recovering as the summons for our men came and they left for the vale. Reckon it worked out as we ended up with some bandit trouble of our own a short time after."

Yes, overall the battles were a success, but I heard that your archers unfortunately faced a number of losses at the Battle of the Ringing Hills. I myself was leading our troops on the field below Bull's peak at the same time, but I can assure you, we did our best to protect all men on our side equally."


"
A melee against a shadowcat? Thought you archers try to keep your opponents at a distance! You were trying to knock the beast out with your bow or what?"

No doubtin, that be true Ser. I had me great honor to meet Lady &
Lord Marsten and me first impression was a good one but there's always some out there thinking there be more to the story."


Luecian laughs amusingly as groans emit from the nearby soldiers as the knight asks about the shadowcat. "
Now boys, the good knight asked, show some respect. Well you see Ser, first and foremost I'm a huntsman for House Dulver. From time to time, I'll be called into duty with our archers but tis not my day job so to speak. So on this particular day I had been sent to bring back a boar for Lord Dulver and guests. Well most noble types prefer to hunt boar with dogs and a long spear so while its not me preference, I try to stay in practice with it. So I'm out with me spear, some dogs and a dog boy, I find us some fresh tracks and eventually the dogs corner the boar and me spear puts it down dead."
He continues a bit more solemnly."
Well cant change the past but on this day I took a few minutes to wash up and take a piss at nearby stream, while the dogs and the boy watched the boar for a moment. Damnest thing while I was pissing I hear a yell so I try to pull up me trousers and run back. As I get in view me eyes see a shadowcat attacking the dogs and the boy, so I yell and run closer with me spear. Damn thing throws itself at me then, catching me face with its claws real good and a bit on me shoulder but I manage to impale it on me spear and hold on tight. I left injured pretty bad with some scars and a shadowskin pelt but the poor boy and most the dogs sadly weren't so lucky. The wilds can be a dangerous place me friend."
He shakes his head sadly, the smallest fraction of mist gathering in one eye for a moment.

An impressive story indeed, Master Luecian. I guess this also makes you somebody to keep an eye on for the hunt with House Bracken this afternoon? I must confess my own skills in this regard are rather limited. I learned to track game during my squiring days and I believe I can fight with a spear well enough, but when it comes to shooting arrows or bolts, I am completely lost."


As the inn appeared on the horizon, Kevan stretched himself in his saddle. "
Ah after a good morning's work it is time to regain some energy. Would you join me for an early lunch at the inn?"

From me own thinking, everyone cept that fearsome ironborn warrior better keep both their eyes on me during today's hunt. We all be having our skills good Ser, I surely am not the rider nor swordsman I expect you be."


As Luecian also spotted the inn, his stomach dispatched a slight rumble. "
Sounds like that be the best plan I heard all mornin, I most surely accept good Ser."
