'Paranoia' is simply a fancy word for 'not dead yet'. Daveth muses. He'd met up with Maester Leopold, and they were conducting science experiments in what was the middle of nowhere, surrounded by men of the Morningstar. It would have been a lot more comfortable to do the work in a room, but they couldn't guarantee privacy there. And if this vial was what they suspected it was, word of their possession of it in the wrong ear could kill them. So, here they were. The one place they could be sure of their privacy. The maester took the lead in the investigation, with Daveth assisting. Both being very, very careful.
