Glancing back at Loriena he gives a small shrug. "
Aye, my Lord, it would be my great honor."
Septon Arlyn sits with the young Lord's retinue and looks curiously at the assembled guests. Turning back to Lord Tullison he attempts to broach a question that had been weighing on his mind, but wishes to be tactful given the disparity of status, "
My Lord it is an honor to sit here with you, how goes your investigation?"

Corrine tentatively approaches Yoren;

"
I am sorry, Yoren. This was all a terrible mistake,"
she says softly, close enough to not be easily overheard.

Yoren turns towards Corrine and gives a small smile. "
I appreciate that you came tonight, it cannot have been easy for you to come here tonight. I did not see you there earlier, I'm glad you came."

Thinking for a second he adds: "
Maybe it's best you and Ben leave? Things are getting dangerous, and Beth will need parents."

Yoren's look is sincere as he talks.

I may have had our difficulties, but I never wished him harm. Even when I thought he was going to attack me, my intent was upon his axe arm, not his chest. I was trying to disarm him, but I failed. I am so sorry for my part in this tragedy."

She looked towards the pyre for a moment, then back at Yoren;

"
Ben &
I cannot abandon our duty. If anything, this makes it more important that we stay and fight for justice. There are already precious few people investigating who care about the truth, and the smallfolk. We will be alright. Your concern is appreciated though."

Your arm was forced. I cannot blame you for what you had to do, that would be unfair. You did not create the situation. My man even told me that you spoke up for peace. It really requires bravery to stand against twenty expert warriors demanding peace. I'd say that you was the one that did the most to solve the situation, and if they didn't heed you, then that's not your fault. Please try to move onwards. It was not your fault. You were put in a tough situation and tried to solve it. You tried, and that is all anybody can expect."

I can do nothing but respect the sentiment to stay to help people when you could leave. You are both brave."

Yoren smiles at Corrine before attempting to shift the conversation onto less serious matters:

How did Benjcot like his gift? I used to love it when I was his age. I used to sneak it out of the castle and into my secret hiding spot. There i could read it for hours on end."

He has much hardship ahead of him, and being robbed of his childhood is a great shame. Having something just for him will help, I think. It was very grnerous of you. Yoren waves a small bag that he drags from his pockets:

I considered giving him this too, and that shows how bad of a dad I'd be. Having children playing with fire is not what Westeros needs."
Yoren laughs: "
I'd love to know any children one day, but I have to marry to do that."
Yoren goes still for a bit. "
I will have to marry a young woman for politics. I don't wish to force myself upon someone half my age with none of the experience. Marriage is something I can do. But I don't have the concience for anything more. I've done too many bad things already."

It needs not be unhappy, but I've been around the world, she has most likely never traveled outside of her fathers domain, we will be of different worlds. The age gap only furthers the rifts that will appear... I will try to marry into the Mallisters, to find peace. Help would be much appreciated, as I'm not sure how to approach the situation."

Yoren looks down at Corrine: "
Can I do anything in return? It must be quite stressful with all that is going on here... I like to be off help."

You should not hang all your hopes upon one House though. While it is admirable that you would sacrifice your personal freedoms for peace, they may still be unwilling to be joined with your House."

Sitting alone, patiently waiting for a chance to speak with Yoren, Loreia wonders what it is she has to say, if anything, that she couldn't by simply being. Coming up with nothing, she abandons her inordinate purpose and departs.

Yoren nods at Loreia as she leaves, words are not needed in such a situation.

The fact that they're expressing their distaste is the best reason I have to pursue an alliance. They are as loyal as the waves, always there. Much like Athelstan, in fact. I'll hope that it works out with them, I'd like to have a small Beth of my own one day."

Yoren looks at the pyre before adding: "
I'm not sure if Athelstan should have been laid on the flames, it would be a more honorable way to go, but not what he would have wanted."

Yoren pauses for a bit, thinking, before asking: "
What will happen further with the investigation? Will it continue as normal, as if nothing has happened? If everything continues as normal, could I at least borrow a few Marsten guards for the time being?"

I would not say 'as normal'. We cannot pretend that nothing happened. The fiasco with Athelstan and Lord Baelon is a sure sign that things must change. Perhaps I should have been firmer and set rules more quickly. But I will be ordering changes. I know that you brought few men of your own, and I acknowledge that your House will come under more scrutiny. If you are concerned for your safety, you may have two Marsten guardsmen to accompany you."

I'd be honored to have Ben by my side, he's a good man... But can you spare him?By the standards of our nobles Ben is held in much higher regard than me. If he wishes to travel with me I'll be happy to have him, I'd like to get to know him better."

I am his liege lady. He'll do as I ask. Besides, he cares about safety and peace-keeping as much as I do. I'll have him join you from tomorrow. If you'll excuse me, I feel a great weariness upon me."
