Warrior's seat was on high alert, little wonder, considering the reports coming in ahead of Marq. He had to argue a bit with the gate guard, but Lord Haig had recognized him, and apologized for the over-zealousness of his men, but couldn't much be helped he said. Wildfire was something a man could not fight, only endure. It was clear enough from Marq's appearance where he had been, and so the lord commented on as well, surely the young lordling knew what he talked about.

Reporting events to Ser Theomore, the old knight seemed not to be in a hurry, insisting that Marq relay everything that had been said and done at the meeting, inquiring only as to the health of the important men, asking somewhat sharply about how close he had been to the fire, he seemed more pleased that Marq had survived than to be approving of his bravery or dismayed at his foolishness. An amused eyebrow being raised at the inclusion of the girl. Though to Marq's surprise, Theomore answered nothing to what he would do next, everyone would be crawling all over the wildfire. With both black and greens at the inn, a quite logical conclusion would be that whoever was behind the attack might have wanted to disrupt the peacekeeping, and allowing them that victory would make one remiss in one's duties.

And then came the order to rest until morning, there were quarters here for the investigators, sergeant Blayne would find him a bedroll and a blanket and make space for him among the few Tullison men accompanying Theomore in this place. And now he needed to sleep, for he had another long day in the field tomorrow, and Theomore suggested Marq should do the same, though with a certain glimmer in his eye that seemed to signal approval...well, Marq wouldn't really mind that.

He would not mind at all, truth be told, the night's events so far had left him quite pumped up, he wouldn't manage to sleep even if he tried, so he decided to go to the great hall. Find someone to play dice with, win new friends, or just a serving girl or two to..well, there were degrees of friendship as Theomore liked to say. All the men seemed to be elsewhere, on the walls, or scouring every nook and cranny for signs of wildfire. All the serving girls, too. The great hall is eerily quiet and empty, save for another that did not seem to be able to sleep either. And not just someone. Lady Kerry Bracken was a beauty to behold and savor. And the boldness needed to approach such a beauty was one Marq never had been lacking, and why should he ever have? Only problem being that he had not cared to look himself in a mirror? Did he need to wash? To arrange his hair? His clothes seemed quite manly though, slightly singed here and there. Even better, the ash and scorchmarks would give her something to ask about, and he had a tale to tell.

Why...this was almost too good to be true, armed with more confidence than ever, and his most winning smile, he strode forth to once again try his fortunes in this next adventure.

Lady Kerry was an adventurous dresser at the best of times, and the fire had done nothing for her outfit's modesty. It was more than enough to fire a young squire's imagination.

Lady Kerry is breathless and a little excited by the drama, full Bracken chest heaving as she speaks.

Wait. Did you not pull your Lord uncle from the fires by your own hand?"


She shakes her head in disbelief.

Your clothes are scorched, but your skins looks better than mine after a bath."


Her eyes are wide in wonder at the heroics and Marq's blemish free face.

Marq brandishes a wide smile, drawing two fingers over his cheeks rather demonstratively before brazenly reaching out to stroke her, clearly for comparison, never once does his brown eyes, the only thing he has in common with his father in appearance, take their attention away from hers. "

Almost undetectable, he moves in an inch closer.

Somewhere in the back of his head he hears his father's voice in muffled objection, the words were gibberish, but the meaning clear enough. Not that he took heed of them, or even stopped for a moment to consider doing so. Marq Mooton had a long tradition of disobeying his father.

Lady Kerry leant gently towards the smiling Salmon, enjoying the silence and the warmth of human company.

The boy had much of the Valyrian look that appealed in Lord Drakeson, albeit without the same intensity. But what would Father say?

Marq draws his finger down her cheek and trails it over her chin, lifting it up, twisting in his seat to bring his eyes closer to hers, make her feel as she were the only item worth noting in his world, trusting his ears to pick up any incoming interruptions. "

his ever present smile seems to take on a very unique and inviting quality, something special that he would only share with someone special. Well, true, sort of, though wind back time past having organized scared smallfolk escaping a battle inside the caves....and oh..leaping into a burning building to pull nuncle dearest out of it, yes, that...too, he was sharing it with someone special, someone else special.

The face of the young boy is all sweetness and innocence, nothing suggesting any particular agenda. It is not exactly hard to see where his moniker comes from, his smile is so eye-catching, so alluring...inviting the lips of the daring to edge ever closer.

He had her there, the look of lady Kerry's eyes told him enough, he would get all he ever wanted from her, just another girl, just another night...except the part where this particular game could draw an unwanted crowd, a crowd was always unwanted. But there were secluded places in any castle, places holding no value worth guarding, heavy clothes and blankets stored for winter, for example? The lady liked adventure, Marq could tell, would she like to be his guide on an expedition to the forgotten deeps of the castle? They should join at the stairs down to the cellars. Marq just needed to do some....preparations, one should never embark on a venture without first having checked that the...weather would be agreeable, the environment must be one's ally, no?

While sensibility might never have been much of a strong suit for the smiling salmon, mischief and misdirection did happen to be among his virtues, or vices according to some. Well, according to most, actually. And the guards at Warrior's seat knew nothing of his wily ways. It was almost an insult to his sense of fair play and love of a challenge. Then again, they were minor obstacles in this little game, like the rabble on the Cyvasse board, the main objective was the fair lady, and the adventure on the way provided more than enough excitement, no need to add more of it.
