Re: Game Discussion
Coldbrook tourney is going to offer a Green/Black point and something on the VP side to balance things out, but you'll only be able to get a VP from one of the two events. Should allow people to role play rather than roll play. This isn't a spreadsheet maximisation exercise.

Re: Game Discussion
Almanac updated with Story 3's events. Let the wild speculation begin:
- Guess which of my events Nathaniel will ruin and require rewriting!
- Ponder what disaster I have planned and that will be mitigated by Houses Coldbrook and Drakeson!
- Shudder at the opportunities for chaos to exploit Theomore will spot/create!
And so on.

Guess Isobel's next languid put-down!
I'm starting to imagine her like Lucille Bluth/Mallory Archer.

"You want you belt to buckle, not your chair?"
Sounds right for Isobel.
Also, a quick note on Nathaniel's event - Game has explicitly never been balanced around "equal opportunity". The VP thing is being balanced as it's mechanical (equal access to VP contribution from both events, but can only earn a VP towards a quality from one of the two even if you participate in both), but story wise/participation wise the chips fall where they may! I applaud people for taking part/not taking part in various events for story reasons, mechanics be damned.
Lots of events being posted now (Hiding the mechanics for some until after PCs make their decisions) so hopefully lots of exciting things to get involved with.

Huzzah! I haven't looked at them yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Prayer one needs to be added.
Baelon gets mentioned by name and there's a distinct thread for you in story 3 involving a particular Kingsguard. Suspect you can guess who. Calling all the way back to story 1!

A wise use of your offseason. Might even get the Lorent stuff rolling this week before everything goes crazy with soft launch/launch. Next up however, Velaryon combat resolution. Will make some foods, watch some sports and try to do some combat posting.

Thanks to Nathan and Reader for the clarifying posts around this. I did have reservations about people feeling left out, but you were quite right to point out that the same things can be said about tourneys. I certainly did not like that we've been held up with mostly tourney and combat stuff for a while now, while a lot of rp threads fall further and further down to the bottom of the pile, like Lily Daleford's, a few Marsten threads, and a bunch of other things that do need resolved before story 3. It can be difficult when you're trying to be polite and make sure others get seen to, and I for one feel really bad prodding for stuff, because I don't want to seem selfish or annoying. But the small rp interactions, intrigues, and stuff that some find pointless or frivolous, are what some of us are here for. Like someone said earlier, it's role play, not roll play. I know the combats also need to be resolved, but not at the expense of the non-warrior players.
I'm holding off just now on rolling and posting for the carnival because I want to co-ordinate with Ben and Nathan, but I'm hoping to have Corrine attend, at the very least.

Oh I have been working on stuff. Sadly I do not have much time to devote to it. But thankfully I have a job that lets me handle my real world problems... (Like eating and not sleeping outside unless I want to)

Does that make Corrine Lindsey? Oh christ... That's nearer the mark than I'm entirely comfortable with!

Oh! When you put it that way, then sure, jousting or participating in melee just comes down to asking for your trainer's permission (I would assume he just allowed it). In the signup thread, it sounded like you meant your character was really young, like just a year or two past legal age, which is 16 for boys.Aerion Storm wrote:The bastard has grown to manhood -- perhaps twenty years old, perhaps a few years older,

He has become a promising warrior in his own right, and even Ser Harbert himself has said Aerion will earn his spurs "any day now," loudly and often...but has said it for years.

Re: Game Discussion
Nope, sorry if I was unclear. He's in his early twenties, functionally kind of a man-at-arms at this point, just kind of hanging out and wondering what it's gonna take for him to get his knighthood (when 'what it's going to take' is probably some Household negotiation as they figure out just what to do with him, etc, etc).Loreia wrote:Oh! This is my fault, but hopefully things will pick-up now that my house is in order.

Swim to his new home in the GRAVE, if that look in Nathan's eye means anything.Nathaniel Mason wrote:"Certainly you are in no danger from the likes of him. Nathan doesn't kill people simply for being assholes. If he did, he'd have no time for anything else.
Had the man forcefully pressed his advances, well, assuming he wasn't stopped by one of the many guards, he might have trouble swimming with a large rock tied around his neck.

As hilariously awful as it would be for Corrie and Gwyn to get busy without knowing it, doesn't look like it's to be. Imagine the blackmail potential there. (^_^)

Well that may also depend on whether you both work on both alternating and direct currents, if you catch the meaning.

Re: Game Discussion
They were both being pretty flirty in their own ways...
It's easy forget these characters are pretty young still. We like to give Nathan shit for being a kid, but he was only 2 years younger than Gwyn and Corrine in Story 1. They're basically college age now.
DORM PARTY TIME!

Little do you know, there's an underground floor in this party castle where they hold the initiation rituals...
Also, are close cousins considered "legal" in the Seven Kingdoms? By religious standards, I mean. And by that I mean by Andals and First Men. Traditionally.
Even if not, that's double jeopardy right there for the accidental swinging.

I think so. I know siblings was still considered weird (barring Targaryens, and who's gonna argue with the mamajamas on dragons?), but I'm pretty sure cousins were fair game.Loreia wrote:Little do you know, there's an underground floor in this party castle where they hold the initiation rituals...

...and, dangit. I can't post a link, still. I swear, I'm gonna start growling "seven days" just like "Seven Hells," as a curse.
The wiki page I was trying to link to was the Wiki of Ice and Fire page called "Customs," which talks about marriage, and uses the phrase "not more closely related than first cousins." So sounds like my recollection is fairly correct. Kissing cousins was allowed, but no siblings or parents or whatnot.

Re: Game Discussion
First cousins is ok, but no closer unless you're a Targaryen.
I did toy with the idea of Corrine coming onto Gwyn, but I didn't want to freak Gwyn out OOC. Also, it probably wouldn't fit anyway, since I've decided not to go for the VP, as I realised I was acting IC on an OOC want, and so am arranging Corrine's crisis of conscience.
It would be excellent blackmail material though, true. I'm an evil player who wants to do bad things, but my sensible brain (and sensible Ben) are helping me stay true to the character's personality and values.
