I am creating a thread where we can continue to roleplay, leaving the event thread alone.

Perhaps it would be best if Reader moved all the roleplay stuff from the event thread to that thread.

I'm open to that. May need a massive spoiler for the quoted posts, unless simply moving posts is a possibility.

As far as I know, Administrator can move, delete, rearrange posts as he likes.

I can indeed move posts and sometimes do so. I'll try giving it a crack tomorrow night if I remember/have time.

Re: Game Discussion
Hey, given that my day job is in equities it's nice to be in control of something.
That said, my control only extends as far as the boards - always enjoy seeing the direction players take the plot in. I like to set up a whole bunch of plot threads and see what people bite on. A whole load of players helped make Ser Benjen Frey's story interesting, ably instigated by Ser Theomore. The after effects of this part of Story 1 is still being felt in Story 3, as Loreia has brought up IC.
Velaryon combat thread almost wrapped up, had one more failed attempt to knock Baelon in the water now that he's exhausted and might have flubbed the awareness roll. IC resolution/sentencing here will be fun, Daleford story thread reaching a key point too.

Raynald Dulver's view on his own moral standing with the gods seems to parallel the Lancea Sanctum a little, from V:tM? Definitely "mad" by the standards of the Andal faith, but not completely...

Gone a few hours and flurry of posts! It's nice to see so much activity again.
I used charm as for Baelon's as he was explicitly appealing ot their friendship to influence them in the short term, not reason with them for any long term solution - if you think it makes more sense to be Convince, I can drop some dice.
Reader wrote:Persuasion (Convince) seems right. Seducing everyone in to calming down boggles the mind.
Charm can be attempted but it's not as effective narratively.

I personally think Charm makes sense for Baelon, but that's just me.
Sadly for Corrine, she doesn't have a 'knocking their heads together' stat. Like a frustrated parent with two children fighting.

Re: Game Discussion
Well, she's got the "yelling parent" thing down.
Fighting(Brawling). Corrine needs to become our unexpected master of head-slapping and rib-jabbing. eventually get so good that a single smack upside the head instantly makes your target stop what they are doing (Brawler III).
EDIT: more seriously, yeah, I agree with you, and it is interesting to see the different approaches being taken.

Just saw this and couldn't help but think "she's not the only woman whose disposition towards Gwyn went down for marrying Baelon".Reader wrote:Lady Alysane Tully's disposition towards Lady Gwyneth Drakeson deteriorates to Dislike for interfering in her family's business and the Riverlands, and for being to married to Lord Drakeson.

Doh. And I spent time trying to make nice with the Tullys too.
Well, I guess it could have been worse than Dislike, if I hadn't.

Yeah, 'Malicious" is where things get really bad, especially when they are devious and have power, wealth and influence... so she's better hope not to get you down to malicious.

Re: Game Discussion
Convince ought to be a lot more effective than charm in terms of actually getting people to change their opinion.
Also yeah, Benjen was Forrest's cousin, and we haven't heard anything about any children of (the) Forrest...so a potential heir might just be married to Theo now

Re: Game Discussion
Charm is fine for Baelon in that scene - as the narrative notes, he's friends with both of the high status nobles and can appeal to this friendship for calm between the men. All fits together quite nicely, Baelon has chosen his friends wisely!

I mean, if you want to advance, getting the "ol' boys network" to see you as one of their own is a great place to start.

Re: Game Discussion
Some good lines here (particularly like the one about parties being for alibis!) and nice nod to canon from Theo on the Dothraki weddings:

Nice entrance from Nathaniel too, vivid description.
Glad Theo was spared wasting good wine on Raff.
Look forward to seeing how this one develops.

Huh... 'saccharine' turns out to be a a lot less anachronistic than I thought - first recorded use: 1670.
Of course, the sense that Loreia probably meant is from the 1800s, and hey, Baelon's smiles are perfectly genuine and nice, thank you very much!
In other news, while digging around for that discussion on tower shields, I saw this blast from the past and had a good laugh:

Having roleplayed better speaking and vocabulary and manners has made this much more fun for me! Manners...hmm, less of those it would seem.

Your posts are of a consistently high quality, so you're doing pretty well.
Loreia - glad you'd had a chance to expand your IC vocabulary after almost two years of play. Agree that Loreia has clearly paid less attention to the etiquette element of Daveth's lessons (or listened so she can find out how to irk people!).
All - the Riverlands song is still one of the game's high points, if not THE highpoint.
