"
Well, as long as I am back at the castle in time to get ready for the feast, then I think I can accompany you for a time longer,"
Corrine replied, after a moment's thought.

She informs the seamstress of which pieces she desires, arranges for them to be delivered to the Marsten pavilion, and changes back into her day clothes.

"
So,"
she asks, once they are ready to leave. "
What is it you are looking for, in terms of a shield? I confess I know little about discerning the quality of the things."

Ben steps out eyeing Ellie suspiciously. She quickly grabs some material investigating it deeply.

Ben does the same with his garments as well orders a simple tabard with a red mountain covered in black briars on a field of blue. Then gathers a rather battered shield near the entrance. House Backthorne's symbol almost completely faded from its surface.

Ellie places her arm into Bens as they exit the tent, grinning ear to ear, a small skip in her step. Ben follows along looking to Corrine. "
As you can see I do not require a new shield, just to freshen this one. I hope to find someone to paint it with the same combination of House Tullison and Blackthorne as the tabard I requested"
Ben glances down a few times before looking at Corrine again. "
I do appreciate your company,my lady. It has brightened my day thus far."
Ellie looks back up to Corrine giving her a smile and look to say I told you so.

"
Thank you, Ben. You are most kind,"
Corrine replied courteously. "
I am enjoying your company too... both of you,"
she added hastily, followed by a delicate clearing of her throat. "
I'm sure we can find someone with the skills to brighten up your faithful shield."

She walked beside the siblings, hands folded, following their lead, as she had no idea where to go. She had only ventured into town that morning, and mainly for the seamstress and jeweller.

The trio navigate away from the normal barkers and market smells. This new area is filled with sounds of hammer on anvil and the smell of smoke.

Ben examines wears at a close by stall. "
My lady, have you spent much time in the yard at Hartshorn? I mean observing. Surely your mother would never approve of your involvement. She can be difficult."
He gives Corrine a sympathetic look.

"
Oh Gods, no,"
Corrine chuckled. "
She would hate that. I have managed to sneak myself a glimpse from time to time though. It looks most invigorating."

She smiles mischievously;

"
Can you keep a secret?"

Ben chuckles at her reaction to his question and his interest peaks at her questions. "
My lady for you, I will swear by both the old and the 7."
His tone sincere.

Ellie who had been quietly observing the two, smiling like painted mummer, reacts. "
Ohh Guess I will walk over here."
She indicates the next stall over.

Corrine watches Ellie wander off, then looks back to Ben with a knowing smile. She moves closer, speaking in a hushed voice into his ear, her lower lip briefly brushing the lobe;

"
Sometimes I sneak out and practice using a bow,"
she confided. She drew back and watched his face for his reaction.

A small shiver runs through Ben at the slight contact. His face takes on look of approval. "
Well aren't you a naughty girl. I would like to see this. I am sure you would far out do me."
He steps back looking her over with exaggerated appraisal. "
My lady you do not cease to amaze me."

"
I am not great at it, but I enjoy it. I've always envied men's ability to choose a weapon and have it protect them. We women may only use our words and our wits, which I think is unfair. I would love to go hunting in the forests near Hartshorn someday, use what skill I have to bring in some fine beast for the family to feast upon."

She grinned at him.

"
You are the only person I have told. You mustn't tell a soul,"
she told him, though her expression was cheerful. "
Once mother is gone, I can be free to practice, even to get someone to teach me properly. But for now, it's our secret."

"
Actually being able to wield a weapon lends to having to use it hence more danger and words often are more powerful, but in our present houses company the clans do not care if you are armed or what words you speak, so I must agree."
Ben looks at Corrine with a admiring gaze. "
You honor me with you secret... Corrine."
He tests the waters with a less formal title. "
I would gladly take you hunting here but you may embarrass me."
He chest rumbles with slight laughter.

His face becomes more serious. "
It is a shame we must dance with these strings: speak a certain way, act a certain way. I sometimes tire of the bootlicking and back stabbing. Its almost enough to send me back to Bullbriar Bay."
He shakes away the frustration building in him. A smile plays on his face as he looks away as if imagining something. "
I would love to see you striding down the streets, breeches and tunic(most exquisite though), bow in hand, quiver at your side, and game over your shoulder to the cheers of those around."

She beams and laughs a little at the image.

"
Now that would turn heads!"
she laughs. "
Though honestly, I don't think I would embarrass you. Certainly not intentionally. Perhaps we will yet find an opportunity to go riding and hunting, have some time to be ourselves. With Ellie too, if she wants. Mother would never allow it, but I have found with her that it is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission. She is spending time with Jon Cobb while we are here, so perhaps we could use her little dalliances to our own advantage."

"
I would like that. Very much."
He looks at her softly. "
You know besides around Ellie, and Gwyn and Leopold to an extent I am myself very little. You seem to be breaking down that barrier."
His eyes find Corrines. "
To be honest it scares me a little. And I have faced things that most would no with out fear."
Ben can feel his heart thrumming in his chest.

Corrine looked at him softly.

"
I had heard that you had been through something... traumatic. I am sorry,"
she said, sympathetically. "
I am sorry that I am scaring you too. That is not my intention. In truth, I am a little taken aback by how easy it feels to be in your company. I think growing up has been good for us."

"
Forgive me, you do not scare me it is the way being around you makes it so easy to open up, like you say. For in the world we live being open is dangerous, my lady."
He purposely avoids talk of trauma. His wall coming back up partially at the mention of it. "
Yes age has been like wine to at least on of us."
He forces a smile.

Sensing the alteration of the mood Ellie hurries back over from her wandering. "
What you doing? Talking about politics?"
She gives Ben a look to say what in the hells are you doing. Then an apologetic smile to Corrine. "
Ben the shield is taken care of. The good man over there"
she indicates a nearby stall. "
will have his wife take care of the job."

"
Will walk you back to the Marsten pavilions, lady Corrine."
Ellie grabs them both arm and arm walking away. After a few steps she squeezes them both close to her sides. Ben looks to Corrine his eyes lingering on her lips before settling on her own eyes, now being less then half a meter length away, he can see the brilliant sparkle in them. He smiles affectionately. Shrugging his shoulders.

"
It is dangerous, yes. All the more important that we find people with whom we feel safe,"
she replied, then squeaked a little as Ellie grabbed the two of them, marching them onwards.

"
Are you sure you want to walk me back?"
she asked. "
I don't want you to be uncomfortable. I don't know if mother will be there or not."

"
If you desire it of me, I will walk you to your own tent, but for your sake that your mother doesn't chastise you for her dislike of me it may be best if Ellie alone escorts you back. I leave the decision to you ..."
he leans in close to her ear his warm breath on her ear. "

She uses her free arm to prod his chest playfully at the whispered word, laughing.

"
You are terrible! But yes, it may be best if just Ellie comes with me. I will have a word with mother though, try to change her mind about you. I think she's being utterly petty, quite frankly."

Ellie releases the pair from her clutches, turning to them. Ben takes Corrine's delicate hand into his own calloused one, as he bows to her. The many raised pink scars of his contrasting her soft white skin. He kisses it softly his stubble dragging slightly across her skin. "
I am glad the gods have seen fit to put us together twice now by chance. I hope to see more of you. Possibly for that ride."
He winks. "
If it were not for societies puppet strings,"
he mimics a marionette. "
the things we could do without reprieve."
Like express how you make my heart skip and my blood race. He smiles with adoration looking longingly into her eyes, his only outlet for his feelings. "
Good day My Lady. Until we meet again."

She beams happily when he kisses her hand, and she curtsies before stepping away.

"
Until the Gods see fit to cross our paths again."

She turns and walks with Ellie towards the pavilions. She is tempted to look back, but forces herself to look ahead.

Before walking away with Corrine, Ellie bear hugs Ben. He leans forward kissing the top of her head. "
Keep Lady Corrine safe and stay out of trouble."

Ben stands among the throngs watching them leave, until he can no longer see them. He can not help but smile.

Ellie looks back to see him watching, giggling. "
He's still watching my lady."

"

Good thing you did not see him earlier."
She gives a wide eyed look. "
I am quite thrilled we ran into you. He was furious this morning over the situation with Lady Sophia, but when he saw you I saw it all leave him. Without you it would have been a grumpy day."
Ellie looks at Corrine questioningly. "
You have heard I assume?"

Ben stops at the shop Ellie had dealt with, verifying everything and making a final purchase before heading for the pavilions.

Ellie leans close to Corrine lowering her voice. "
Lady Sophia Blackwood was struck by that fuc-darn Benjen Frey, her betrothed. She supposedly confronted him for forcing himself onto a smallfolk girl."
A small fire is lit in her Brown eyes. "
If not for me I think he would have went straight to the Frey camp and challenged him."

Corrine's spine stiffened to hear what Ellie described. She had a great sympathy for women whom men mistreated, noble and smallfolk alike.

"
She's not still going to marry him after that, is she? He sounds awful!"
