"
I shall take these secrets to my grave, my dear,"
Corrine promised sincerely.

"
I get on well with my cousins, Gwyneth and Dyana, though mother doesn't like me being around them, especially not alone. I think she fears that they will try to supplant me, but I don't think either of them are interested in that. Gwyn has her eye on Lord Tullison, and Dyana prefers to be her own woman and free of duties. I also have two Lyras cousins, Kevan and Edmund, but I've never been terribly close to Kevan, and though I was close to Edmund, he left to travel years ago, so I have no idea what he's doing these days. I don't have any siblings. I used to have brothers, but two of them died before I was born, and another died of the same illness that killed my father. What about yourself and Ben?"

Ellie frowned at Corrine's loss. "
I'm sorry for your losses."
She spins and begins walking backwards while talking. "
We have three brothers. Ben is the oldest, Bernard, then me, Garwin and Bryan. They are twins. Mother was busy with the twins. They were a handful."
She raises her eyebrows in mock distress. "
We all got on well for a time."

She spins about face and falls back in step with Corrine. She looks up into her eyes with deep joy. "
I wish I had a sister like you."
She averts her eyes to the ground. "
I haven't always been nice to Gwyn. I should have been. Maybe she and I could have gotten along like sisters."

"
It's alright. As I said, two of them I never knew. And Gwyn, well, she's a good person. I'm sure she wouldn't have held it against you. We all have things in our past that we regret, after all. Where are your brothers now?"

"
Well Bernard is captaining a ship in my Lord grandfathers fleet. Garwin is aboard ship with my father learning seamanship and Bryan is squiring with house Borrell on Sweetsister."
You pauses concentrating hard. "
I believe that's right. Letters from home are far and few."

"
It sounds like it is just you and Ben that are truly close,"
Corrine observes. "
If you don't mind my asking, are your family trying to find either of you a match?"

"
Ha."
Ellies flashes from a face of courtesy to what has become her relaxed smile with Corrine. "
Unless Lord Dunstan sees fit to find me a suitable marriage, and hope he does, I will marry a man form the Sisters form some minor House. She sticks her finger in her throat and mimics vomiting. "
It is what our people due. Ben is a different story. Our House is minor and a 1st born of a 3rd born holds little value, so Ben is under little pressure."

"
I bet you have to beat suitors away with a belaying pin, being beautiful and an heir to a great house like the Marstens."

"
Thank you for the compliment, though it embarrasses me somewhat. I'm never sure quite how to respond to being told I'm beautiful. There will likely be some clamour for my attention at the feast today, that much is true, though I expect most will be more attracted to my lands than me. Separating who is true from who is not will be difficult. I was taught that men's love lies not in their hearts, but in their... eyes."

She hastily adjusted what had actually been said by the ladies in waiting, her cheeks flushing at the realisation she had almost said an unladylike word.

Ellie passes her a grin. "
Perhaps I am a bad influence. You almost said a word I would have. Their eyes ... ha! As to beautiful it is a two sided sword. If you say thank you ,are you vain. If you deny it are you a liar. Still its better than cute."
She shakes her head looking the ground. "
That just means your like a puppy or something."

Is that what people say about you?"
Corrine asked.

"
I guess I should be lucky they say nice things instead of mean, but I wouldn't mind be looked at by men the way Ben looks at you."
She looks down at her chest. "
Maybe when these come in. Hopefully soon."

Corrine smiled sympathetically;

"
It will happen, in time. I'm sure of it. I confess you are rather cute, though you are also clever, and witty. You are more than your looks, dear Ellie. And someday, a worthy man will see that."

Ellie blushes, an unusual act for her, at Corrine's compliments. It truly meant alot coming from someone like her. For a brief period she was speechless.

[ooc: I think we can wrap this up, unless Ellie has more to say/ask]

They were now approaching the pavilions, and, stopping by the Marsten pavilion, Corrine dismissed her guardsmen.

"
It was lovely getting to know you, Ellie. Thank you for walking with me."

(OoC: sounds good.)

Ellie smiled warmly. "
It has been a fun walk. Thank you for spending time with me."
She quickly embraces Corrine and steps back again. "
Sorry I know that was probably inappropriate."
She turns to leave looking back. "
I hope I see you at prayer."
She waves hastening away.

Corrine doesn't have time to return the embrace, such is its brevity, but she smiles warmly as she waves off Ellie;

"
See you at Sept tomorrow! Take care!"

With that, she retires to her tent to change clothes and write a letter.
