"
Then, my lady, you have my deepest sympathies. For that is not a position I would ever want to be in."
She laughs at her thoughts. "
I have enough trouble trying not to speak crudely and then having to listen to all that boring stuff."

Corrine laughed.
"
Well, if it is any consolation, I find your company most refreshing."

She smiles at the compliment and reciprocates. "
I thought I had developed a fine wall of courtesy from Yve and aunt Moraine, but when I heard you in there I realize I have a long way to go."
She shakes her head in amazement. "
and to hold whole conversation like that."
She continues her head wagging as the reach the bottom of the steps.

"
It can be quite draining at times. I was not expecting to enter a negotiation like that. I will have to make peace with mother and seek her guidance. Lord Yoren asks for more than I think I can offer."

Did I speak too long? My teacher told me that that was my biggest flaw when explaining the world."
Well, we've lost the others, so yes?"
she giggled. "
Anyway, yeah, I thought about it. I've always believed that these faiths we have must come from real events, sources of power and all that. Like with the weirwood faces, the Old Gods watch us in their places of power, know our very souls. The Seven, the Old Gods, the bloody Old Way in the Iron Islands. But, to be blunt, it worries me that my thoughts are a lot like what you've been taught. 'Cause of your rituals and your fire."

Peace? Is it that bad?"
Ellie looks concerned.

I hope it is not that bad,"
Corrine replied. "
I had not seen her so angry with me before though. I am hoping that she has calmed in the interim. I do not want to have us at odds. We disagree on many things, so it is easy for us to butt heads, so to speak."

Ellies worry eases slightly. "
They always expect you to be like them and do things their way, but even when you don't they still love you."
She smiles reassuringly.

"
Thank you, Ellie. I think that is indeed the case. Perhaps it is because of that love that they strive to steer us on the path they think is right."

Yoren asks: "
Because you have thought of it it has to be wrong? That seems like you are short selling your own faculties. Just like with the religions, you have found a grain of truth. What I have told you Is a bit of the truth, but as with what I've told the ironborn you have to think for yourself on the issue."
Yoren gestures towards the altar: "
The septon stands up there preaching right from wrong. I am a monster for leaving for essos without my family, regardless of my reasons and intent. They see the world from their own eyes, and all they cannot comprehend is inherently evil. I don't preach, I teach. I could give you the formula for infitisemal calculations, both in ranks and in numbers, but you would not comprehend. If however I guide you to find it for yourself, then you will remember it for the rest of your life."
Yoren smiles: "
I have given you the bare bones, now it is up to you how to use it."
He looks slightly concerned: "
I don't know everything. Neither does anyone, but while scholars are debating all details in their ivory towers, people like me try to explain the world in the simple terms."
Yoren looks around: "
A sept is not the right place for such things, should we go somewhere more private to talk?"
A slight blush rising in his cheeks.

*Where would we go? Can we leave the Sept and stay in the Mid Morning time slot, because I want for my character to be present for the trial, and yours already is.*
"
If you'd humor me for a moment. I need to pray to one of my gods."
Assuming she is, she gets another candle from the center, lights it, and visits the stained glass depicting a robed, bearded man with scales in one hand and a sword in the other. You see more than we do, and I pray that you have seen Athelstan and know his true intent, and find him wanting. And I pray that he must die.

Yoren looks a little saddened, but takes his leave well enough. Bowing he says: "
Of course my lady, i will not intrude further, although i do hope we may meet again."
before he leaves.
OOC
sorry, did not think about that

Of course. Aren't they all? Though I fear we will be the same. I already see it in my caring for Ben."
She giggles.

That dam boyish crush he had on your cousin, I tried to stop that many times so he wouldn't be hurt by her. She smiles her most charming smile. "
To be honest I am interfering right now in his life, because I feel its best for him. That your best for him."
She shyly looks at her feet. "
No that he doesn't already feel that way, but he is hesitant and reluctant. So I push."

"
Me?"
Corrine suddenly felt very awkward. Athelstan would be facing his trial soon, and if he won, she would be giving him her hand. But there was dear, sweet, brave Ben. She had already upset Baelon, she didn't want to hurt Ben too.

She frowns at her misstep. "
Oh,I do not want you to misunderstand. I know your position. But I feel his being close to you has only brightened him, and when you see that in someone ..."
She trails off. "
I'm sorry that was probably wrong for me to bring up."

"
No no, it's quite alright,"
Corrine hastily explained. "
You didn't do anything wrong. It's just unexpected. It is heartening that he enjoys my company. I only hope that I don't hurt him. I have already disappointed one suitor, and I feel awful about it. I don't want to make it a habit."

She gives her reassuring smile. "
He is an understanding person. You wouldn't hurt him. I promise."

I should perhaps invest in an actual belaying pin. It's beginning to look like I will need it,"
Corrine laughs, a little awkwardly.
[ooc: I'm happy to wrap up now, unless Ellie has more to say/ask]
