Re: Mechanical discussion
I was wondering, what happens when a character gets older and switches to a different age group? Does one needs to adjust the stats accordingly or that is relevant only during character creation?
Specifically, Dunstan is 17, and when he turns 18 he switches from young adult to adult. Does it matter in any way?

Re: Mechanical discussion
I think it does not change anything. You still have to upgrade your skills in the same way that you always do with experience.

Re: Mechanical discussion
Correct. The age groups are only part of character creation, and do not have an affect during play.

Re: Mechanical discussion
Hey folks, don't forget fatigue &
injury penalties on D9 stuff...
Injuries from the melee would persist at least until D9 MA, so anything in the morning or EA would still have them - that applies to Tyron Blackwood as well and any other NCs that fought in the melee.
Injuries from G&
B will persist at least until D9 MN.
Also, anyone with melee injuries that brawled in the G&
B event would be at a DC 12 on the recovery roll, because we were fighting, and may take fatigue penalties to boot (For instance I would have a -1 if I take max fatigue in the melee). Luckily most of the healers would at worst have gotten a single fatigue from the RG event, and then slept it off before the healing test is made.
Fatigue calculations are more complicated, and will in part depend on the definition of 'rest'. I presume that being social/talking is fine, but dancing (vertically or horizontally) would prevent rest. Fighting or riding is right out. I would argue that stressful circumstances (such as an intrigue) should not count either... but that is up to Reader. I am also assuming that the RG nightmares were also similarly rest-depriving (at best no recovery, at worst an additional fatigue).
Here is how I would calculate it for Baelon, assuming he takes his max 3 fatigue in the melee and no unexpected D9 activity.
So, the melee ends after Late Afternoon, and every 4 hours of rest removes one point.
ME - LE, no activity, 1 point recovered [2 remaining]
EN - MN, River Ghost/G&
B, 1 additional fatigue (due to my rolls for the RG event) [3 remaining]
LN - EM, no activity, 1 point recovered [2 remaining]
MM - LM, no activity, 1 point recovered [1 remaining]
EA - MA, no activity, 1 point recovered [fully recovered] (also, melee injuries rolled for and hopefully removed)

Re: Mechanical discussion
I didn't think of any of that, in light of the handwave. I may have more fatigue than my body can handle!!!

Didn't you spend a dp to reduce injuries?

Re: Mechanical discussion
Does that mean I should drop a point from all my rolls with Lord Blackwood, and he &
Tytos should be losing points on theirs too?

You've got your injury but don't think either of them are dented? Corrections welcome!

Do Lord Blackwood or Ser Tytos have penalties from G&
B etc?

No critical failure on the endurance roll from either man sadly.

From reading the rolls and Kevan's crunching, it all seems much of a muchness anyway.

Your injury was taken care of by my endurance / healing roll in the Sept

Re: Mechanical discussion
- the consequence of getting in the way of The Beast of Bracken's greatsword.
1 Fatigue (gone by then), 3 injuries, 1 wound.
Don't forget that Kevan has an injury and Ben will probably not make it out of the final without injuries either... I doubt anyone in the final will emerge unscathed. Those would probably have a larger effect than your single injury.

No, that won't kick in until D9 MN. Injuries always last at least 24 hours, wounds always at least 1 week.Septon Arlyn wrote:Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:Does that mean I should drop a point from all my rolls with Lord Blackwood, and he &

I'll be just fine, don't worry about me. I'll keep an eye on the fatigue, though. I'm hoping I won't have to take any more in the melee.

Re: Mechanical discussion
Well I can always recalculate, but with all the injuries and the wound (!) to Tyron, Bryan likely wont get any mollify from him, so this should make the whole thing go even faster in our direction, as Corrine's injury only imposes a -1 and my assist should be fine as well, even with the injury from melee

Re: Mechanical discussion
Unless someone put their endurance to save your injury in the event itself, then you're not rid of it, no.
And who's to say that the Blackwoods doesn't have a maester to back up their lord instead of wounded Tyron, or Lady Blackwood. I'd kinda argue that it's foul play to send in additional backup to Corrie's Persuasion 5, that's so powerful that Lord Bryan would be well within his rights to go with a "
take my offer or leave it"
yield IMO when he gets ganged up like that.

Hmm. Corrine had declined that same thing from Loreia, so I didn't think she was open to it;Septon Arlyn wrote:Yeah I spent my endurance DOS to "

I thought you were talking about a regular Healing test.
If memory serves, the endurance DoS prevents the injury, so that would take effect right away.
Of course, there's no reason (barring Reader objection) that the injury that Corrine took wasn't all purely RP, and it wasn't actually serious enough to cause mechanical penalties, etc... as an alternative interpretation of the preventing, that is, not just handwaving away the event result, of course.

I burned a DP, in fact, but it was more dramatic than effective. I got the injuries all right back on me.Septon Arlyn wrote:Didn't you spend a dp to reduce injuries?
Though I was talking about fatigue, which I didn't ever clear out!

Re: Mechanical discussion
Well, you would likely have rested off one fatigue prior to the River Ghost event, so it would have just put you back at maximum. Furthermore, fatigue does not roll over into injuries they way that injuries roll over into wounds... so being at max and having another one forced on you doesn't do anything. Further, your endurance failure in the G&
B event was not a critical failure, so you did not get an injury from it - that WOULD have become a wound, though I'm sure someone would have had a DoS to spare to prevent it... I think most of Loreia's are going unused.

Re: Mechanical discussion
I was not aware there would be a healing roll from the Septon at the time, and the -1 is self-imposed for rp purposes.

Re: Mechanical discussion
Ok, so as we wrap up this arc and seem to be going strong (yay!), I have some mechanics questions about house stuff.
First and foremost, regarding holdings.
1) Can the "
Begin Projects"
action be used to invest in multiple holdings at once, assuming all the required resources/prerequisites were already met?
2) Can holdings be upgraded, and if so, is there a discount? If it is full price then it would make more sense to build the new structure alongside the old rather than upgrading... which really would make no sense.

Re: Mechanical discussion
1. I'd be inclined to interpret the line "
When your house begins a project, it counts as your house's action for that month"
as only one project per action. Might be one would want an exception for military units.
2. I do believe GR said that you simply pay the difference, back on old now disappeared forums.
