House Bartheld: A Little Learning is an Expensive Thing
Bartheld – A Little Learning is an Expensive Thing
Ruben Piper, a successful merchant merchant with a full beard and an even fuller stomach, is entertained by Lord Davain Bartheld at one of House Bartheld’s feasts. Lord Bartheld’s new bride, Lady Ayleth Bartheld (nee Swann) gives festivities a more elegant touch with an accent on music, rather than the wild festivities. As well as his normal trade in spices and fabrics in exchange for Bartheld vintages, Ruben offers a truly unusual tome: an ancient text he claimed as collateral on a debt owed by a Frey cousin bankrupted by Lord Tully’s swingeing taxes. Ruben recounts a grand tale he had from the Frey that this is the records of a minor branch of House Velaryon and their adventures, no doubt unlocking the secrets of buried treasures of profitable maritime routes.
Determine if Ruben Piper genuinely belives the text is real

- Total DoS matter across the two checks
Acquisition of Text
1 Wealth
- Wilder options (stealing the text, convincing Lord Bartheld to arrest Ruben and take the text by force) are available but require creativity and rolls.
Once text is acquired

Assuming the text is genuine, Nathan spends a Glory point to acquire the text, using his reputation and connections to improve Ruben's ability to trade in the Riverlands. This, of course, means Nathan owns the text. Lord Bartheld will still need to cough up the 200 GD to Nathan. Creative enough?

Good enough rolls that assists will probably not help to any degree.
