10) Yoren walks up and performs the last kiss on the dead horse, bringing it back to life and making the investigation seem unimportant in the wake of such a miracle!

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
You can only quit if you can exit the scene. It's a part of the rules of the Quit action. Sooner or later, we would get a confession out of you.
I'm sorry, but I cannot IC justify Baelon or the bloodriders killing you in a blaze of glory.
If someone else wants to be the hand behind the blade, that's up to them.
My list of options above was only taking into account IC Athelstan and IC Baelon's choices, not other characters.
(that last point also addresses the points Yoren made as I was typing this post)

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
I begin to see that some of the Athelstan-Corrine issue was a communication problem, as Athelstan regarded the below as a confession of tampering.
Obviously it says nothing of the sort, but it has helped clarify some of this for me. I hope this can help both players reconcile.
A dramatic death scene for Athelstan coming up, that he has collaborated on.
Now I need to square how he dies, as Athelstan does not want to be taken alive - I suppose he can take wounds to effectively kill himself. The main question is - who swings the blade?

Can't say for certain, but last night I asked him about it, and he was certain the Bracken men did put them to the torch, but when I asked more about it he said he was there for a few moments, found no one and that it was hard blowing winds that made him turn tail"
crossing his arms in front of him again "
Does that sound like that stubborn ass!?"
he shakes his head "
So i decided to go early as possible to see, and yes there was fire damage, even if the mines were fortified, the beams were targeted, both Bracken and Blackwoods. Some more recent than others, but his story does not check there was something else to easy to find, and just sitting there, so does that sound like tampering to you?"
an inquisitive eye set on Corrine waiting to see if they were of similar mind 'I did question him in front of Ser Jorah and Yoren if you wish to confirm that, and I hold evidence of what was found there, while I left some behind it's to dangerous to carry around and very expensive"

She knows it alright and everything I told her there, so acting the were dis came from, sounded like she throwing me under the bus to Athelstan IC

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
He pretty much has to kill himself, I think.
Corrine would only shoot him if he was attacking her. Otherwise, I'd totally do it so we can get on with our lives.

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
Everyone: Athelstan has noted that he feels perishing here is the best option but will be returning to House Longshore in a new guise! He and I appreciate all the alternative scenarios you all came up with.
He feels (and I agree) that being captured ultimately ends with defeat in an intrigue (as you can't quit), which he's unwilling to countenance.
He prefers to go out with some style and I hope we can accommodate this. I've drafted something together with him, now just need to collaborate with the other PCs on how he dies (and die he most likely will, with his capacity to take wounds to kill himself).

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
Whomever it is should be (OOC) prepared for an angry tirade from IC Baelon... but that will pass, and it will not be anything more than hot words.

If nobody wishes to kill him we'll have a problem... doesn't matter if you're outnumbered when they can't kill you...

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
Given the OOC issues, my suggested solutions for the killing blow are:
1) A bloodrider [an elite unit countermands their boss]
2) Ser Jorah Holt [totally uninvolved OOC so no risk of OOC ill feeling]
3) Baelon - doesn't want to do it IC and risks OOC ill-feeling
4) I conjure up an NPC, perhaps a pair of Bracken and Blackwood guides (showing the investigators the mine!) with bows shoot Athelstan [don't like, complicates the investigation with the death of a royal investigator at the hands of the Houses being investigated]
5) Athelstan leaps down a mineshaft, cackling his defiance [Disney villain death, but avoid the issues above if Athelstan is okay with it?
I prefer 2 or 5, but 2 needs Jorah's approval.

Well, if you want to come charging at Corrine, she'll reluctantly put an arrow through his heart. :;
): We could mirror story 1, Dyana killed a man who loved her, Corrine can kill one that did the same.
Seriously though, I'll do it if you want.

That has a certain poetry to it, if Athelstan approves. Suicide by the woman he loved from a distance to prevent capture by the man he hates!

Well, the offer is open. It's an unofficial goal of mine to have Corrine kill someone in self-defence.

I love dramatic scenes like this... for what it's worth, beyond all the OOC misgivings and the like, this scene is starting to become one powerfully evocative scene and i love it. Bravo to everyone involved.

He is rather a machine that, once switched on, cannot be switched off. You just have to wsit until he runs out of juice, with a miles-long string of bodies in his wake.

Lol no, Athelstan probably couldn't do it, but I can see the Bloodriders doing it following the orders of if he reaches for his axe kill him I believe.

Suicide to avoid capture by leaping down a mine shaft if you're unwilling to attack Corrine? Or Ser Jorah slaying you, if he's okay with that?

Re: Athelstan - Iron mines
Via PM, Athelstan is now ok with approaching Corrine and the others in desperation, so I'll be activating Corrine's offer to shoot but with a twist that you'll all see soon.
Current working assumption
- Athelstan goes for his axe after some final words to Corrine that we've cooked up between us.
- Baelon tells his men to hold
- Athelstan ploughs forward towards Corrine, forcing the issue
- Corrine shoots him
- The minor twist happens
- House Dulver comes around the corner.

I mean, I'm riding without moving for almost 24 hours now, ya have any idea how me arse is burning? It's all Fire and Blood down there, you ironshitborn!
