Ah, yes. That's just what he'll be telling himself as he's sliding over the moral event horizon
If only there was some cliché about the dangers of staring in to the abyss...
Also - hooray for Daveth's Red Oni. I want my own red &
blue pair to give me advice on how to narrate.

I said, "
Do you speak my language?"
They just smiled and gave me a digital sandwich.

I think, in the near future, the game will become only this. Everyone trying to appease Lord Kriegar, Glory to those that makes him happier in events, scandal if he's sad, etc.Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:"

Why wait so long? A knife in the dark could solve a lot of problems. Gillian would inherit, but need a regent/protector named. That covers you for a few years, then arrange a marriage with a suitably pliant or friendly groom.... by then Gillian should be quite friendly towards House Marsten, too.

Friendlies are the most dangerous, either they are not friendly, just too good at lying, or they are actually friendly, which means that they don't have a secret agenda...

Heh, that would be awful. I think, as long as I don't fuck up, he'll be ok eventually.

Well, someone got to fuck up too.....
The most entertaining sort of roleplay is if someone intentionally sets up their character to fuck up and pulls it off with gusto.

Corrine will likely disappoint you then. She's trying to do good through fair play, though either she'll learn enough of the game to play effectively, or the Westerosi Doom will get her.

I'm not sure if I'm pulling it off with gusto, but I am an exposed mystery knight, who is a woman, and who killed a war hero while disguised. So. I consider that fucking up a bit.Theomore Tullison wrote:Well, someone got to fuck up too.....

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
I don't know about that. You have this big black box called "
The story"
you put Corrine's motivations and what she's trying to do into it, and then she comes out of it at the end, presumably having developed to something else than you put in.
The disappointment, in my eyes, would be if what happens inside that box does not change the character and/or her path in ways you did not see coming.

Development is definitely my intention. The lovey-doveyness may not seem interesting, but it's building up that relationship so that it'll be all the more horrible when bad shit goes down.

It's nice to have characters of different shades and at different status levels. Helps strike the same tones as the source material.
Impressed with ability of many of you to take defeat/complications with grace and turn it in to an interesting story.

A Song of Ice and Fire is all about defeat and complications. Every victory only sets up a worse defeat down the road. No one lives happily ever after.Reader wrote:It's nice to have characters of different shades and at different status levels. Helps strike the same tones as the source material.

If we won all the time it would be boring. Really, the key to being viewed as a success isn't to win at everything - that isn't possible.Reader wrote:Impressed with ability of many of you to take defeat/complications with grace and turn it in to an interesting story.
That might be going a step too far - I think one of the brilliant things about the series is that every victory comes at a cost, but it's not like the costs outweigh the victories. Indeed, we don't really see anyone checking out completely - even those that seem to give up end up finding something to fight for, a shred of hope or a sense of purpose. Just because there are no storybook endings doesn't mean its not worth fighting the good fight. No one wins absolutely - but no one loses absolutely either. I think one of Martin's recurring themes (in other writings as well as ASoiaF) is just that - life isn't about winning or losing, it's about what happens in the meantime.Dyana Marsten wrote:Every victory only sets up a worse defeat down the road.
But there I go waxing philosophic again.
