#d6k# converted to anydice.com format. I imagine additions and subtractions from result are simply -/+#.

Re: General Non-game Chat Thread
That's an interesting note, but having more dice to keep allows you to reach higher rolls. Highest 6 of 7(7d6k6) not only allows you to reach higher results than a 3d6k2 with diminishing returns, but allows you to achieve a result between 18-28 at about 80% probability, with the other 20% roughly split between 8-17 and 29-36. Against all very hard rolls, you would have a 90.44% chance of succeeding a TN as high as 18 if you have 6. It goes without saying that the more dice you can keep, the less likely you are to fail. You're not likely to achieve those high results that are sure to grant 3-4 degrees of success, but you effectively have a shield of probability from failure against difficulties that, for you, become mediocre.Samurel Manderly wrote:this is kinda game related but kinda not, I've found the dice website Anydice to be quite amazing at finding the probabilities of dice rolls... it's actually quite interesting to see what the difference 1B does to a roll, and as it turns out, (from what I tested) 1B is most effective in the 1B to 2D ratio, if you have any more then that you start to suffer a diminishing returns rather quickly.
At my current rank in Will with 1B Courage, I am 81.24% likely to get a result between 12-20, but I can't get a roll higher than 24.
The more we keep talking about probability though, I guarantee our chances of failure can only increase... :;

Samurel, anydice.com is indeed wonderful and helps level the playing field between those with a good grasp of probability and those less mathematically inclined.

I remember a discussion about adding a chat feature to the website or a chatroom we can go to? is that a thing that is still happening?

Beyond my time commitments sadly, but if someone creates one I will create a sticky link to it somewhere prominent.
