Re: Game Discussion
I feel like I dropped the ball on the Intimidate roll in the personal combat in Velaryon Arrests. I would say that they are sufficiently cowed, since their passive Will was beat soundly by 2 degrees, but I didn't know how to rule the success of a simple intrigue to frighten more than one enemy to flee. I would go with the number of DoS allocated by player's choice to the opponents: 1 degree to have a fraction of the enemies skip their next turn, 2 degrees to have a fraction of them yield and the rest skip a turn, and 4 degrees to have a fraction of them flee in terror(Free attacks by allies taken if they choose) while the rest yield, with even higher degrees possible. I think it's a case-by-case issue.

After having read about it on the wiki page a while back, I would like to add this to the first: she took only a little, and she would also be trying to hide this fact.Loreia wrote:Loreia will take milk of the poppy for Master Daveth's* sake, that he may treat her with reduced pain/discomfort, but she chooses not to return.
[OOC: If her champion box is closed, perhaps the remaining jousters can compete for "
semi runner-up"
or something similar.]

When was it established that patience's men were between us and the door? It sounded ("
and the gargantuan cook has left to give Patience's boys something to eat too"
) like they weren't even in the room.

Re: Game Discussion
I may have misunderstood, but I thought we went through the kitchen on the way to the dining room, and that the boys were in the kitchen - or at least some of them. I doubt it would really hold all 10, so some are probably still outside.
Well, as I just posted IC it was more of a warning than a threat, so it doesn't really matter. OOC I know that Ser Devyn isn't going to get violent over what Patience has said, but IC Patience doesn't know that, so she was just reminding him that in this situation his title won't protect him if he gets violent.

Oh, I understand. I thought you were implying they were blocking the room's exit

Re: Game Discussion
Greetings, people, new one speaking here !
I'm looking forward to joining this site with Ser Alfred Haigh, an aged former hedge knight that I seek an opportunity for employment, that can have been on for a while either in House Tullison or House Kytley, if that opportunity presents itself.
Ser Alfred is a second cousin to the current Head of House Haigh and has traded his service to House Frey for a career as a hedge knight. So far I'm looking at events to tie him with other characters and have come up with the Tourney of 98 AC and the War for the Stepstones. The Boss also pointed me at the Bracken-Blackwood feud.
So, Im looking forward to bounce some ideas around !

Welcome! House Tullison is probably your best option there, as there is another player in that House.

So the boss said. Depending on how things go with newly enlisting people, Kytley might prove an option, but Im considering Tullison the primary pick.

Procrastination is for healthy thinking! Not so much for chores.
If your character has been made &
approved, make an introduction for them here:

But don't feel pressured to share anything you don't want to! Reader is on hiatus, but us PCs are still able to interact with each other. We have a thread that functions as a way to arrange roleplaying between PCs:

Re: Game Discussion
Hmmm, I think Theo is the oldest of the active PC's, and he was like 5 in 98, so dunno how much that can be worked in. War for the Stepstones, well Theo was there as a squire, but rather young, as is the case for most PC's (not sure if anyone else active was there), but I think Ereth has been at the stepstones doing some battle. There's also been dripping hints from reader that unlike in canon, that war didn't end in 215.
Blackwood-Bracken conflicts is possibly a better entry point, there's at least two of those during Viserys' reign (not including chapter 2), the previous Lord Tullison died fighting for the Blackwoods about 15 years before game start and Theomore led Tullison troops and other PC's also took part in the latest (pre-game) conflict between them.

Re: Game Discussion
Hm, thanks and interesting stuff !
If all stays the way Im planning it, Alfred was 26 in 98, so theres a lot of stuff to be filled, but then, There are always minor tourneys to compete at and Ironborn or bandits or hilltribes to squash... ^^ I might want to pm reader bout the stepstones, I guess. In any case, I'll keep an eye on the Blackwood-Bracken things for sure !

Re: Game Discussion
Mostly we'll have to make up that stuff as we go, since there isn't much in the way of details about pre-game events unless a PC felt like exploring it for background.
Although one question, you say Alfred went from service to the Freys into life as a hedge knight, that's in most cases not a good career move, so you have any thoughts about how that came about?

Re: Game Discussion
The grass is always greener on the other side, I guess. Alfred was like 19 when he made that descision and didn't really think the long time effects through. Hedge Knight to him meant tourneying, winning riches and perhaps a piece of land of his own and most importantly, the chance to become famous and get out of the riverlands. He succumbed to the propaganda, if you will. In his opinion back then, serving as a mere sworn shield or so wouldn't do much more than enable him to support himself. Little fame and little family of his own. It was a gamble, but he was willing to take part. 35 years later, he thinks about it a lot more practically and realistically, of course.
I was thinking about giving him a small patch of land on the stepstones that was lost again when those were lost, to help define his relationship with Prince Daemon, but also to set up that he really doesn't like the Triarchy. And because nothing helps set priorities straight like winning and losing a fortune, however humble it may be and running out of time to do it again.

Re: Game Discussion
Interesting indeed, that thing about patch of land and relationship with Daemon etc can serve as a nice hook, providing justification as to how Alfred came to sign up with the Tullisons (if that's what this ends up with) due to possible background tie-ins with Theomore out of that, and considering where things have headed during the course of the two chapter's we've had, let's just say that link has potential.
I don't know how much the triarchy will feature in dragonsdance, I have a feeling that it won't really be much.

I guess they are more of a background event, but their affiliation with the Greens will keep him pretty secure in the black camp ^^
