Hah!
Garret actually kinda-sorta made a play for Gwyn too, back when he was a PC.
Those cheeky Coldbrooks.

NPC Garret fancied Corrine too. Nobody can resist a Marsten girl. :;

Hey, I only started courting NPC Corrine (way back in those first few days, before you joined) because your mother talked me into it.Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:Nobody can resist a Marsten girl. :;

I started this game fully intending to stay single for quite a long time.

I think the Westeros term for friend-zoned is, in fact, "

This story pre-dates Ser Jorah Mormont, so it could be 'Cobbed'.

Every four hours of rest removes a point of fatigue, so unless your enemies are content to wait for you to rest for four hours to recover just one point, let alone 16 hours for all four, I don't think so.Ser Walton Dulver wrote:But which penalties will move to battle scene? Wound and Injury, I guess, but what about fatigue? Assault will take place straight away or do we have moment to take a breather? Because even with wound and injury (but without fatigue penalties), Walton is still Terror from Westerands for most opponents

A small dose of Milk of the Poppy removes half a person's wounds and injuries rounded down for 8 hours. (I would say minimum 1, although it does not explicitly say it.) A dose would remove his currently penalties temporarily, but it costs 200ss (about a gold dragon). Probably not an issue for a Dulver, but well out of reach for most people.
It's also highly addictive.

A point worth remembering - it's an opiate. One of the (few?) admirable things about Prince Aegon is that he overcomes an addiction and swears off the stuff in canon.

Re: Game Discussion
Don't have rulebook for this moment, so couldn't check is there specific rule for fatigue, or is it more like 'counts until end of encounter'. Thanks for clarification, then :;

Well, Walton maybe will appear on battlefield, but putting him into role he was meant to play... Well, tough decision.

What does it mean for us? Of course it seems as right thing to do... Because if I understood well, it will cost 200ss, what is nothing for Dulver, will remove my 1 wound , 1 injury and 2 out of 4 fatigue for 8 hours?

It does not affect Fatigue. In fact, if you take too much of it, it puts you to sleep.

Re: Game Discussion
If people are constantly guzzling opiates then Will tests to avoid addiction could making an interesting storyline, but it's something I'd discuss OOC first.
As for taking milk of the poppy - remember, it reduces the penalties for injuries/wounds (not fatigue) - the injuries/wounds are still present (reducing your capacity to take further wounds/injuries). It's a subtle difference, but can matter. The milk of the poppy helps you ignore the pain, but it's not a magic potions that removes damage.

Re: Game Discussion
I just assume maesters administer it in safe doses, but that large doses are dangerous. I guess taking it frequently can require a roll to avoid addiction, but how often you have the opportunity to take it depends on how often you encounter situations in which you've taken injuries and can't stop to rest, thus requiring poppy to halve penalties to roll much better than you would otherwise, until you can get some rest.
Outside of that, because of its addicting property, there's a warrior's-pride aspect of culture in the Seven Kingdoms that finds it distasteful for a man to use the painkilling opiate, or out of a distrust of what a maester will do to their patient while they are "
under"
(such as resorting to amputating an injured limb).

Re: Game Discussion
Technically yes. If you defeat someone with a weapon that doesn't have the Vicious quality, you can choose consequences: death, maiming, ransom, take the black (if applicable), or unconsciousness (a light consequence, or possibly just as bad as death if left for dead, or depending on the intentions of the victor). Unconsciousness in the book says the defeated is left for dead, but that's not necessarily the case and has basically been houseruled as dependent on circumstances. Once, I knocked someone unconscious and delivered him to be judged in Story 2.Ser Alfred Haigh wrote:(Perhaps better to move it to the OOC, but that opens an interesting question: Can characters pull their punches ?)
If you defeat someone with a Vicious weapon, however, the consequence is always death (unless your enemy burns a Destiny Point).

I can't speak for Reader, but I would certainly allow someone to burn a DP to ignore Viscous for one combat defeat.

Re: Game Discussion
We've already dealt with a situation like this in the "
Daleford Girl"
thread, and instead of being allowed to do that, someone was able to burn a DP to add a clue to the scene to keep the scenario from ending with the last enemy to die. I think it was disallowed because it was already too late. We will have to hear what he says. For reasons such as this, I think it's a good idea to carry a weapon that doesn't have the Vicious quality, if your go-to weapon has the Vicious quality, of which there are five. (longaxe, morningstar, greatsword, war lance, and heavy crossbow)
More specifically, the exact phrasing from the sourcebook is that a defeated person may spend a DP (if they have one) to "
decide the consequences of their own defeat,"
or in another more dire example, "
avoid certain death,"
presumably outside of combat when a consequence isn't being "
chosen"
by anyone, and there's no way in hell you're getting through the situation alive otherwise. (it will be very interesting to see if someone needs to burn a DP for this effect in the war...)
And since Alfred Haigh is using a war lance in "
Meeting Ser Albin"
, his enemy isn't going to live if he brings his health all the way down with it.

You actually have to burn a DP to make a choice other than the choice your opponent made.

Re: Game Discussion
Good to know, but not what I meant.
In this case, I was more like thinking of limiting the success of the action attempted, like saying 'I don't really want more than 2 DoS' or 'If I roll more than 1 DoS, I'd like 1 DoS to apply'. Not particular to the situation with Ser Albin, but more a general note (coming from another game, it struck me as an interesting question)
Also due to being in a hurry, I copy-pasted all my PMs into a notepad file before deleting them to clear my PM registry. Unfortunately, I didn#t save it as much as I thought I did and thus purged most of the PMs I had. Just a warning so if I dont follow up on PM stuff, its because I no longer have the stuff.

Re: Game Discussion
I have set the pm's to autodelete as new ones come in (When a new one comes in, oldest is deleted). I try to make a habit out of recording such information as I want to keep in my private forum, typically results of knowledge(streetwise)/Awareness(empathy) and the like.
As for reducing DoS, we've had this discussion earlier, you roll X dice, you keep Y dice, and you get to decide which one's you want to keep. We've houseruled that you have to keep the higest ones with house fortune rolls, but otherwise, feel free.
