The Beast of Bracken is an imposing knight, worthy of his nickname. What he lacks in finesse or particular calling as a tourney knight, he makes up in raw brute strength.

Ben knows his aggression yesterday will cost him today. He rides out scanning the crowd. Seeing what he is looking for he smiles and drops his visor. He spurs down the list turning his body slightly for defense.

The two combatants lances shatter with force.

Lord Bracken lived up to his reputation for hitting hard but having less control of his mount. Despite his thumping blow, it looked like he would remain in the saddle, unless unkind fates took a hand.

Lord Bracken wheeled his mount for the second prize, Ser Benedict skilfully or fortuitously having shifted his shield at the last mount to avoid serious harm in the previous tilt.

Recoup 2 health

Ben senses that last blow could have been far deadlier. He catches his breath as he rounds Rose for another pass. Must avoid taking a full blow. He readies again defensively and pushes down the list.

Time slows as the mud flies and horses froth. Through the drone of the crowd a small voice reaches Bens ears. He swells with joy and excitement. Emotions he focuses into his strike. The emotion filled hit was not brutal or even powerful, but it was placed well enough to shake Lord Haig. He tumbles from his horse landing on his backside. Ben appears better prepared this time and stays firmly seated. Those same emotion keep him unmoved.

As he rounds to check on Lord Bracken he reaches into his gauntlet to squeeze a braid of hair. He removes his helm as he appoaches the downed Lord.

(OOC: Burn DP to make Haig fail ride check. Editing previous post to reflect this. Bracken is bruised but unharmed, except possibly pride. Which stings quite a bit!)

Lord Bracken, the famous Brute of Bracken is defeated! Seasoned tourney watchers mark Ser Ben as one to watch in the future.

Haig rises to his feet groggily.

"
Well ridden! We are fortunate that the finest line of Blackwoods appears to have married out of the family."

His tone is not entirely friendly, seemingly intended mainly to raise a smile among his own men, although there is a note of grudging respect.

Ben dismounts near Lord Bracken handing his helm and reins to Pudgy. "
Aye, same to you, my Lord. You hit like a castle wall."
He rolls his shield shoulder a few times. Then he lets his expression soften a bit. "
I wanted to offer my condolences about what happened to Wyll yesterday. When he his healed I own him a good meal."
His tone is neutral. He leaves his words for Haig to interpret as he wishes, he would anyway. He nods to the beast as he turns to look through the stands for the barer of the voice, and walks away.
