Re: Game Discussion
I mentioned as part of the septon staying not stirring trouble so he could say those lines to Raynald.
Not to bring up my character's specifics, just to be clear. Not want to stir trouble at all.

Re: Game Discussion
Some serious changes coming upon my return for work trip. No need for drama or woe is me, but I am not enjoying this anymore. Neither are many of my players. I will rectify this. Players and I have put in too much work and this is great fun when it's clicking, so no need to strop off.
Brief post as it is hard to do things full justice from my mobile.

Ser Raynald Dulver wrote:Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:Corrine had drifted far from the squabbling around her, but now she stood up and strode towards the fray;
"
Lord Baelon and Ser Raynald, please stand down. Fighting amongst ourselves will help nothing!"
Raynald was energic, it was clear to see. There was a fanaticism in his stare, and joy as well, almost if he had dreams about this moment. He looked like a child wanting for a gift, and that gift is a fight for the honor of his house, right here, right now. But Corrine's voice pulled him from his thoughts, and as a response he turned to the woman, reading her up and down with his histeric eyes. "
You want this to be resolved without MORE blood? -He smiled, changing his glare towards the presents. "
-Hah! Very well then. Show me that this is what you want! Ensure that your friends here WILL show everything they have discovered on this matter, woman! My brother wants to resolve all this madness quickly and he is gladly open to both transparency and cooperation. But why all the secrecy HERE? What do you fear?"
-He pressed his eyes, leaning over her. "
-Or perhaps it is I that should fear having an arrow in my back all of the sudden?"
So Raynald you must have figured Baelon would not accept you challenge so you would get a fight with Ben via threatening Corrine. Word is Ben has a temper. :;

Re: Game Discussion
Lol. But Raynald did not threatened her Ben, quite the contrary, he is provoking her for the fact that she shot Athelstan (or this was retconned?). Anyways, I'm not saying that he would not threaten her, he is a very bad person, but right now he is not doing that, no. In fact he is giving her the opportunity she wants for peace by giving him his terms: no fight if the info is shared.

Re: Game Discussion
Ben, Corrine or the coldbrooks for that matter may not agree with that, but that's the joys of IC as compared to OOC.

Re: Game Discussion
Rowing back in this situation is HIGHLY recommended Ser Raynald. Obviously everyone has a right to do what their character would do IC, but it's good for all of you to discuss this OOC and resolve it without any madness, in part to preserve the game world's integrity. There's little to be gained from adding to the fallout from the mines as much of the tension was caused between OOC misunderstanding between Daveth and the Septon.
Some political escalation here - potentially fun and interesting. An escalation in to crazy death duels, while (At best) conceivably IC, does not help the game. Being crazy sight other pcs risks the D&
D "
chaotic neutral"
excuse of screwing up the game and claiming "
but I'm IC."
Not saying you are doing hybrid but it's a risk. If desired I've got a whole sack load of black NPCs you can get crazy with without upsetting other pcs ooc! a few more black NPCs arrive on d4 for our little troublemaker.
That and the consideration that Baelon, Benedict or Jorah would cut Raynald to bits. :;

I just want to mention that the entire House Coldbrook contingent left that thread several posts before the challenge.

They may think anything IC, but let this be very clear OOC: Raynald did not threatened her. This is not debatable. I, as Raynald's player, am telling you this. He threatened of what? Of receiving an arrow in his back? Or was the part of the description "
leaned towards her"
that 'looked' threatening? I'll consider a clear manipulation of what I wrote if this suggestion is raised again. There is simply no possibility for it to happens.

Wise.
Everyone, see my post above.
Why not collaborate on how/if this could make for interesting future scenes and political drama and then get back to investigating?

Re: Game Discussion
To be clear I was not ooc upset. I was just making a joke on previous posts about Ben's temper.
That being said IC Ben will see Raynald's actions as threatening. Not that he will challenge Raynald. Before(incident with Garret) Ben had no leverage but his sword arm. Now that he is Lord Marsten, well ... :;

No problem buddy. Raynald IS a troublemaker and he is a bully. But there is plenty of aggressivenes in his actions already. I will make it very clear when he is intimidating someone. As clear as it was his challenge to lord Baelon! :B

It's not manipulating what you wrote. Maybe this is a language barrier thing, but leaning over Lady Marstend and speaking like that IS threatening behaviour, even if no specific threat such as "
do x or I kill a puppy"
was made.

But this is different. That my character IS threatening is ok, we all know that. But he is not actively threatening of doing nothing against her. Quite the contrary, he accepts her plead, but only if she helps him to make the other PCs share their information. To consider his overall description something louder than my action is in my opinion something very delicate, as it makes impracticable to play with characters that are not all cordial, courteous and gentle.

Again, this may be a language issue but standing over someone and talking to them with those words and tone (indicated in text and by capitals) is threatening behaviour. If necessary I can walk people through this on my return, but hope that isn't necessary. For a shortcut, find a smaller female friend and act out the scene with them, words and actions and see if it seems threatening.
You can play characters that believe oddly, but odd behaviour around senior people has consequences. Talk to Ser Jon Roxton like that and see where it gets you. :;

Re: Game Discussion
Hehe yeah...there's a lot of ways a person can be threatening without actually making explicit threats. Certain kinds of eye contact, vocal tone, and respect of personal boundaries (or lack therof) included.

Re: Game Discussion
Yeah, yeah, it is all fine, but no. It was not the case. This is the post:
There was not a single moment that my character was threatening over the other PC. I agree that "
leaning over"
may be intimidative, but it was not the case when you see the context, he is trying to incite her into helping him. He is being provocative, not threatening.
What more? He changed tone in "
MORE blood"
, "
your friends WILL show"
and "
secrecy HERE"
. it was not threatening under any perspective even if he shouted those words, which he didn't. It was merely a graphic way to represent his emphasis. He in facts ASKS her about what she fears for only pleading and not acting.

Re: Game Discussion
I shan't speak for Corrine on this...but if I was a petite woman, and a big old battlewagon like your guy leaned over me and started talking about arrows in backs, while pressing his eyes (I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this, but anything eye-related is a little squicky ), I feel like I'd feel fairly threatened.
I totally get that's not what you were going for, and I make no OOC nor even IC accusations in my saying so. I'm just saying that whatever Ser Dulver intended, I would not be shocked if Corrine's reaction was one of a threatened Lady.
