Re: Of hammers and halberds (before market town, after arrests/)
The sound of running water grows more as they approach and soon overpowers the sound of wind through the trees. The smoke has mixed with the moisture in the air, causing viability to be limited. Those with subsidy knowledge begin to recognize that this fire is far too large one man be using.
"My lady, i believe that two paths lie before us. Do you wish to confront this group about their doings? Or should we move forward to observe them more quietly?" Asks the Septon of Lady Corinne and the rest of the group.

Ben felt a quick pang of vulnerability. When had he become so accustomed to armed guards that he doubted his own ability to protect himself and wife. Shaking it off he looked to the others, waving Luecian out to the right and keeping the Septon and his lady wife close behind him. He knew Corrine nor the Septon would shy from trouble, but a few feet behind the man on point, sometimes made a world of difference.
He quietly guided his horse forward.

Luecian slowly moved out in the direction Lord Marsten had indicated doing his best to stay low and well hidden by the trees. Once in position, he began to rest his bow. Best to be prepared if the fires bring foes rather than friends.

Re: Of hammers and halberds (before market town, after arrests/)
As the party approaches the fire they are aided in their movments by thick fog and the roar of a waterfall tumbling over the basalt cliff to the right of them. A smooth path was made through the round river rocks, sandy surface likely the work of hundreds of hands and countless days to make the way smooth for horse and cart. Round rocks line each side of the path providing slight bumps, trees begin to fall away to shrubs, sticking out through the thick round rocks, life in defiance of hard stone. Moisture is thick in the air and the tumbling of water cascading down rocks and colliding allow them to observe the camp before the camp sees them.
A Large fire is placed slightly to the right of the gaping maw, the cliff creating natural stone pillars and covered with the same thick green moss that surrounds the rocks like a deep velvety blanket. The sheered cliff face appears to be made like some giant with a jagged knife cut off part of the mountain. The entrance to the cave is oblong, the edges bubble as hot cheese frozen in place by the instant frost of winter, tall enough for a man to pass through easily and a sconce deep in the cave emitting the dancing yellow red light of a torch.
Around the fire is three them, each preoccupied with their own tasks. One in leather armor appears to be focused on mutton that he is spinning slowly on a spit, hunger in his eyes as the fat drips onto the fire, causing it to sizzle and dance like a dancer from Essos or Dorne. Heavy mace lay close to his right side, apparently neglected and forgotten. Across the fire from him is a man with no shirt, working on the beasts white pelt with a scraping knife, shirtless with dark rivulets running down from the grime of baths long forgotten. A bow lies up against the frame he is using, quiver within easy reach. The last was sharpening his tool of war, a Halberd, with thick armor arranged in such a way to avoid any impediment to movement. His brown beard was matted with grime, but his tools appeared spotless.
As rough as those individuals looked by far the most dangerous appeared to be the man not by the fire at all. A wooden dummy was placed into the ground, the thickness of the post could hold up to much force, but already cracks could be visualized clearly, made by the thick length of wood that is shaved on one end to simulate the cutting edge. A blade could be seen at his side, well made and superior quality to those of his compatriots. Those who understood the art form of the blade could easily see that this man was skilled and clearly dangerous. Those who did not could appreciate this speed and agility he possessed, moving the bulky stick around and making it land directly on the points indicated by marks on the wood with black charcoal. A shield lies nearby with imagery unfamiliar to those in the little party.
Throughout all this certian imagry appears to be common;

Luecian keeps to a distance from both his own party and this new group but strains his eyes to note as much about this new group as possible.

(we have 1 round of suprise, so attacks against them gain +1 D the septon will not attack unless information is shared as it is not his nature to go around hitting people with sticks. But those who passed the test can pass the information along IC if they wish)

Corrine stopped abruptly, pointing to banners ahead of them.
"I know that banner. It is the sigil of the house of First Men that ruled these lands before Eryg the Kinslayer conquered them and gifted the lands to Petyr Marsten, the founder of my House. Gods, I thought they had died out. They did have an heir, but he fled to Essos and never returned."

Luecian took in the odd faces of each man though the smoke did burn his eyes a bit as he strained for a good look. He noted each man had a seven pointed star on their forehead, well all except the swordsman practicing on the dummy. As he further looked around he noted more seven pointed star signs through the camp as a theme. Not be sure what to make of all this, Lyanna and meself best stay hidden here and wait for Lady or Lord Marsten to pick a course. The archer is ready for however this may go but keeps his eyes split between his own party and the unknown one waiting for a sign.

Ben listens carefully to his lady Wife. Ben would not attack unprovoked and unaware of his foe. They needed to know who they were dealing with and their intentions on Marsten lands. A plan quickly formulating.
Currently the group appears as travelers and not a noble party. "Septon, perhaps we should assess these men through converse. If they move to strike, we have Luecian in the brush. Let our" he gestures at Corrine and himself. "identies remain unknown to them. We may gain something from what they know." Ben looks to the two for support or opposition.

"That sounds reasonable Lord Ben. Let us see what brings them to your lands." He gestures to Lady Corrines bow, "Perhaps it might be wise for your Lady to remain behind in Safety as well?" Suggests Arlyn

Ben did his best to hide his concern as he replied. "The decision is yours, my lady. I will say if it goes sour, having an extra bow aiding us from cover would be to our tactical advantage." Despite their unsure situation, he smiles crookedly, pleased to be in good company as he feels his blood begin to race.

She nods, and moves into position, bow readied.
"Be safe."

His reply a sharp wink.
Ben, then gestures for the hidden archer to hold and that he and the Septon were going to advance. Two quick hands tug the hood of his worn cloak, down deep over his forehead. With flexing digits upon the battered leather of his hilt, he begins to move through the brush at an angle from his covert support.
(ooc: pause for anyone else's input, before proceeding into the clearing.)

Septon Arlyn moves with Ben, gently loosening the metal head from his Cain wrapped around his waist he slides a tapered wooden handle through a whole located parallel to the hoop that held the heavy metal ball to the chain. Ben could see the had was actually flanged and the septon gave a nervous smile. The septon then takes the metal ball and cups it so that the handle runs along the forearm under the septon's sleeve.
"Lead the way Lord Ben," replies the septon, "I will be beside you once again." He gives a little grin. "All we need is Kevin to complete our troop in the second cave eh? Hopefully this will be a less... volatile situation"
Septon Arlyn takes the place next to Ben.

Luecian nods to the gesture for him to hold in place and watched with intent as the Lord and Seoton ventured forward.
