Yeah, it would be amazing!Gwyneth Drakeson wrote:I'd love it if they could pull it off.
But if there's one series of books that is MORE needlessly complex and bloated than Game of Thrones, it's Wheel of Time. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it thoroughly, but it would need a HUGE amount of work to make it as streamlined and as comprehensible as it would need to be to work as a television series.
That said, I sincerely do hope they do a good job on it.
I feel like Wheel of Time is a different kind of bloated. In GOT it's intrigue within intrigue. Nobody knows who their friends are, not truly. Although wheel of time has a few people switching sides, it is a lot clearer, the reader (or viewer) is not kept in the dark in the same way. It's less realistic and more high fantasy, which I think will translate very well into a television format, provided a big budget and a set of good screenwriters... Fingers crossed!

Yeah. Fortunately, a LOT of the sideplots in WoT are pretty unnecessary, so can be trimmed without much consequence.

I gave him a makeover, you're welcome! The original image is a bit big, I wish I could have gotten more of the kingsguard uniform in the frame. I found the original on deviantart, basically Liam McIntyre's Spartacus photoshopped over a TV Kingsguard man's face and dubbed Arthur Dayne. I could see Liam as one of Daenerys's future Kingsguard men.

Thanks! The former was a screenshot taken in Skyrim with mods, I was too embarrassed to admit it before. But I finally googled an appropriate portrait! This was a long time coming, I'm super proud!

Wish me luck, folks! I'm doing a 2-day actor's film course, and day 2 will be upon me in a few hours, in which I'll be doing a Brienne scene from GoT S4, which will (hopefully) be good enough to go in my showreel, to send to people wot can employ me. I'm nervous and excited. Bedn practicing my West Sussex accent, hehe.

Season 4, episode 10. The scene where Brienne finds Arya, but Arya refuses to come with her. Right before Brienne fights the Hound. I'm taking along my sparring sword to play Oathkeeper, hehe.

And that's a wrap! Filming went really well. Apparently I make a good Brienne. My scene partner was a great Arya, especially for someone who had never read the books or seen the show, and had only been shown the scene in the show last night. I had to stand on a box to get our height ratio to look right, hehe, and I brought my own sparring longsword as a prop. Nervously excited to see the final edit in a few weeks.
Thanks for all your good wishes!

Re: General Non-game Chat Thread
Arya's not too hard in that scene. Just be bratty and defiant.
Brienne has a lot of interesting character work though, a lot of conflicted loyalties, desires, and insecurity vs pride...
Great choice for a scene!
...
And kidding of course, about Arya. There's a lot going on with her too. Hehe.

Corrine: What role are you applying for? Any major part? I'm jealous, I wish that I could have been an actor:(

It wasn't an audition. I did a 2-day actors' film training course. My college course is geared towards theatre acting, which is a very different skill set from film acting, so I signed up for the film course to learn more about film acting, as I want to do that too (and will be next month for a different project). Day 2 of the course involved being paired up and doing a filmed duologue which the course director &
cameraman then edit into a proper scene, which each actor gets a dvd of, to use for showreels (the thing we send to casting directors/agents to show our abilities). My partner &
I did the aforementioned scene from GoT, with me playing Brienne, and her playing Arya. I picked it because it's the kind of role I want to do in future, and it shows off one of the accents I can do that is not my own.

That's pretty sweet! Do you practice with the sword, or is it just a prop? Takes me back to the drama credit I took in high school, that class was a lot of fun - not because of the swords, that was just a tangent and there weren't any.

I do train, yeah. Medieval German longsword, though I've also dabbled in Italian rapier, sword &
buckler, and Scottish broadsword.

The new ASOIAF rpg book is finally available, not that it will be much use for this game at the moment considering the timeline

At the very least handy for npcs and stealing ideas. Can be repurposed to hunting down the losing side's treasury too.
