Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Ah, I see. Being here in the OOC thread I interpreted it as an OOC comment, not an IC comment. Yeah, Baelon is muscular, but he is also a pretty-boy that talks a lot, so I can see how Ben would give more of a warrior-like impression.Athelstan wrote:Not about the dice roll IC he just looks stronger to me than Baelon.
Both have 5d6k5 and 1 or 2B in a weapon specialty other than spears, so you both hit pretty darned hard, but in IC he has spoken to Ben and seems more the warrior.

This shows the tradition in Chivalry of a Knight carrying a Lady's favor into battle or tournament. His courage and deeds bring honor to the Lady. The Lady shows her love by bestowing the favor.
That is quite different to a token of esteem I believe :;

Edit: The Rules of Courtly Love allowed a Knight to express his admiration even for married ladies. Knights begged "
tokens"
from ladies. And were presented with "
favours"
such as a veil, ribbon, or the detachable sleeve of a ladies dress. These 'favours' would be displayed by the Knight attached to his arm, his helm or tied to his lance. The lady thereby showed her favour to the knight who would dedicate his performance at the tournament to the lady.

Yes. (Or you can just type 5d6 in the first case, either works.)

That's pretty much what I thought, that a favour was kind of like a good luck charm showing whom you hoped would win, whereas giving a personal gift to show esteem or affection would be something just for the other person to keep and treasure for themselves.
I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my post, I've done my best to edit it into coherency.

Do you need plate armor to joust?

Not really (I think), it just HELPS a lot to mitigate the damage you take.

No since I honestly doubt most jousters could even afford it. Any kind of heavy armour should be fine. (But plate armour definitely helps with absorbing the damage.)

Unless you are Dunstan I think majority of people will have something around Breastplate level of protection and a courser/rounsey ride.

Courser/rounsey, eh? Dyana has a destrier, but there's no chance she'd joust him. '-'
What does Dunstan have, why and how can it be taken from him?

It's easy - beat him in the joust and his horse and armor (not weapon as some have said) are yours.Dyana Marsten wrote:What does Dunstan have, why and how can it be taken from him?
I'm willing to put my life on the line to protect his, but I'd pay good money to see Dyana unhorse him.

Heirloom weapons are normally out, but you are supposed to lose it all, and he can ransom them back or you can keep them.
He will be a hard cookie to crumble with that armor in any circumstance.
Of course Orokos can stab him in the back and give him crappy Animal Handling roll

If he's a half-competent rider, she wouldn't get close to unhorsing him. She's not too good at it, only perhaps with her horse. It'd be fun to see that happen, though.Baelon wrote:It's easy - beat him in the joust and his horse and armor (not weapon as some have said) are yours.

I'm torn now.I want my cousins to both be happy, but Corrine would semi-secretly love to see a woman kick ass in the tourney events.

As I said, Dunstan has plate, you don't need to worry...
He probably has higher scores in everything important to jousting as well. I hope Dyana faces some easier fare before going against someone like that.

Aye Ser Ben! I'm glad to hear so! Lord Tully can choose his champion now, since both of us applied! I call any true man to volunteer and be the champion of the Seven against Athelstan the Kinslayer! "
Dunstan walked around with both hands in the air shouting through the masses
Dunstan already had protection(above) before you stepped in. Unless you didn't think I had it under control, which is why I posted an official plea to Lord Tully.

I was under the impression that it was going to be decided by status rolls, so the more people rolling, the more likely someone would beat Dunstan's roll. Unlikely, but still.Benedict Blackthorne wrote:Dunstan already had protection(above) before you stepped in. I'm not entirely unhappy with the way things turned out - it's a great note in the Corrine love triangle going on... but Baelon doesn't know about that, so he can't really make decisions on that basis.
