There are more than two teams, but there were two more in need of captains. Kevan began recruiting so I'm following suit. An invite will be coming your way at an opportune moment... :;

I'm not going to just shout it out at the breakfast.

I presume that those that do not get invites will either be assigned by fiat to one of our teams, or be assigned to a different team altogether.
It is doubtful that anyone who wants to fight will be denied that opportunity.

Damn straight. Nobody will be left out, sorry if anyone was worried about this.
There's another potential fight scene scheduled, but that one WILL have a much shorter list of participants.
Plus whatever happens to the wicked Ser Benjen Frey.

That will be bad for the blacks later on They are the ones in the riverlands that muster the most soldiers to fight the greens at the Battle of Lakeshore.

Future history doesn't matter... things will play out how they play out.
Besides, if Ser Benjen does to his family what he did to his betrothed, they might not be all sad to see him go...

A butterfly beats its wings (a Theomore schemes his evil schemes?) and so the great divergence from canon begins.

Pfft, canon is... more like... goydloynes.

Benjen Frey doesn't pop up in canon?

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Nope, no Benjen Frey in canon.
Only known Frey at the time is Lord Forrest Frey, to die in the Battle of Lakehore leading 200 knights and 600 infantry beside 300 Blackwood archers and 2000 Northmen (Winter Wolves)

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Really enjoyed Dunstan's joust! It is a pity he was not able to win by burning his destiny point!
Edit: Something else I noticed: People seem to have so many DPs: Dunstan would have almost spent 2 in his joust, Athelstan burnt one kinslaying and used two jousting - I guess you all went into the game with few benefits, but a lot of DPs.
Do the more experienced players here feel this is worth it? I went more towards the other side, seems I have undervalued DPs...

Then again, I never did like Ramsay Snow. One of the most gratuitous characters in the books, IMO.

Thanks Kevan:)
Dunstan is 17 so he gets 5 DP at the start, and is able to take up to 3 benefits. The younger you are the more destiny you get.

I generally take the max three Benefits, but also take plenty of disadvantages to keep my DP count up.
Also, we recovered one at the end of Day 4, so that might be making the count seem higher than it is.
DP are quite powerful, when used at key moments.
At the cost of lower abilities and specializations, though. All starting ages get the same total starting XP, but at each additional age category you lose 1 DP (50 XP) but gain 30 attribute XP and 20 specialization XP.Dunstan Tullison wrote:Thanks Kevan:)

Fear not, I'll probably allow some character tweakage at the end of this scenario as many will be more familiar with the system by then.

Oh I am in no way complaining and I am happy with my character!
(Sorry, If I made any other impression)
It was just something I observed and wanted to raise the question, what other people prefer, given I am not that experienced with the system.

No worries mate, didn't come across that way. Just saying I'm flexible on change once you gain that experience.
Also, one or two people got their destiny maths wrong and are having some things tweaked. Easy mistake to make.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
IMO, DP are a fun addition and can really get your behind out of a bind, but I still prefer building my characters so that I don't have to spend DP very often to succeed at the things I want to be good at. So in general, I don't build characters sitting on stacks of DPs to start with. I also like benefits, so I tend to splurge DPs gained during the game on them until I feel I have a good mix that helps define my character.Kevan Lyras wrote:Oh I am in no way complaining and I am happy with my character!

The downside is when you come up against a PC who does have lots of DPs to spare (NCs rarely have lots of DPs, IME) . If they're willing, they can then simply outspend you in the DP department, radically changing the outcome of the conflict compared to what the dice rolls would indicate. That can be frustrating.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
I have learned that you need specialized characters or characters that all jack of all trades, that are decent at beating average and some decent joes, but against PC and specialized NPC/PC you will suck.

I'll admit it was difficult to read him in recent episodes of the TV show, but no, he's still a monster. I'm starting to wonder what his favorite girl sees in him, how she came to tolerate and even enjoy his games and hunting with him. What's she all about?Jon Cobb wrote:I never did like Ramsay Snow. I'm guessing she's either just as messed up, or she's nursing a gigantic Stockholm Syndrome type thing. Which is really just a more specific form of #1 there.
