Gwyn worked her jaw, taken aback.

And I thought I was paranoid about Lady Isobel,"
she said nervously. "
Well, it's your show Corrine. I just...thought someone should mention it is all. I was expecting her to come in. If you think this is best, who am I to argue with the new Lady Marsten?"

She smiled crookedly, then gave Corrine a quick hug.

"
Congratulations."

Corrine patted Gwyn's back and smiled.

"
Thank you. I appreciate that you care about me. As long as we keep this one secret, no-one need ever know. I promise, I'll make sure she is present for the proper one."

She returned to the Septon with another apologetic look.

"
Forgive me, Septon. Please continue."

He frowns, though decides to let it go. He clears his throat, and repeats his question to Dyana.

"
Who seeks the blessings of The Seven?"

Dyana points her chin up, and steals a glance at Corrine by her side. "
Corrine, of the House Marsten of Hartshorn, a woman grown, trueborn and noble. She wishes to be wed, before Gods and men."
She says solemnly and matter-of-factly.

With that, she begins to gently guide Corrine forwards, holding her hand and edging it forward.

It was easy to spot his nervousness. He glanced to Corrine with an excited smile.

the Septon intoned reverently.

Corrine took Ben's hands gently, and she looked into his eyes with an adoring smile, though he could feel her hands trembling.

Septon Meribald put his hand on Ben's shoulder, to indicate he should speak first;

"
I am hers, and she is mine. From this day, until the end of my days."

Ben ran his thumbs over Corrine's knuckles to soothe her trembling and gives her his crooked grin before repeating the Septon's words. "
I am hers, and she is mine. From this day, until the end of my days."

Corrine's heart swelled with joy to hear him say the words, and she barely needed prompting from the Septon to recite the words she'd dreamed of saying since she was a little girl.

"
I am his, and he is mine. From this day, until the end of my days."

The next sentence was given to her, and she repeated it with a shining smile.

"
With this kiss, I pledge my love, and take you for my lord and my husband."

The Septon continued, speaking to Ben again;

"
With this kiss, I pledge my love, and take you for my lady and my wife,"
he intoned, gesturing for Ben to repeat.

Ben's smile continued to widen. "

He bites his lip momentarily waiting for the next part, the real good part.

She is not greatly shorter than Ben, but Corrine does stand ever so slightly up on the balls of her feet to give him a chaste yet tender kiss.

Septon instructs them to remove their cloaks, and when Corrine does so, he sees the beautiful dress she has worn for the ceremony;
simple, yet elegantly cut lambswool, in the deep blue of House Marsten, cinched at the waist with a wide linen belt, sewn with swirls of silver thread, resembling clouds, moons, and stars in a night sky. The neckline is wide, yet modest, and around her neck, on a fine silver cord, the arrowhead he gave her, a deep blue ribbon wound around it and the cord to keep it in place.

"
Corrine of House Marsten, place your cloak upon your husband, to welcome him into your House, and your protection,"
says Septon Meribald, turning to fetch the ceremonial crystal for the final stage.

Corrine steps behind Ben, with her cloak between her hands, the subtle silver thread lightning bolt at each shoulder of the garment glittering in the candlelight, and she places it over Ben's shoulders, making sure it will stay put before returning to his side and taking his hand in hers again.

Septon meribald holds the crystal up in the light, angling it so that a delicate little rainbow reflected onto Ben &
Corrine, and makes the final proclamation;

"
Here, in the sight of gods and men, I do solemnly proclaim Corrine of House Marsten, and Benedict of House Blackthorne, to be man and wife, one flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever, and cursed be the one who comes between them."

The Septon lowers the crystal and places it aside, folding his hands and giving the newly wed couple a reserved but warm smile.

Corrine grins at Ben, and turns to face their witnesses, leading Ben down the couple of steps from the altar, back to where Dunstan, Dyana, Gwyn and Ellie had been watching.

Ben's eyes shine when he sees the arrowhead. His heart warming more than he thought possible. He listens in stunned silence as the Septon completes the ceremony. His elation more than evident on his face as he turns to his family, new and old.

Ellie is grinning ear to ear. Dabbing tears with one of Corrine's numerous handkerchiefs. She uses all her will to remain in place and not run to them.

When they reach their little band of guests, Corrine hugs them each tightly.

"
Welcome to the family, little sister,"
she whispers in Ellie's ear as she embraces her.

She squeals with delight. Then mouths an apology to the septon.

Whispering back. "
I am most overjoyed, my lady-sister. I feel I am the one has gained the most."

Corrine replied, releasing Ellie from the hug to embrace Gwyn.

The Septon tidies away the ceremonial objects, and excuses himself, his sacred duty complete, leaving the group to themselves, looking forward to rest.

Ellie moves on with a curtsy to embrace Ben, who kneels and whispers to her. They converse for a short time. Ben finally kissing the top of her head and turning to Dunstan.

Gwyn finally lets go of Corrine and steps back, her eyes a little moist.

"
So it's done then. Thank you for inviting me, Corrine. I won't say a word to your mother, as glorious a moment as it would be to see her face when she realizes I was here, and she wasn't."

She giggles to herself and wipes her eyes.

"
Will the official ceremony be at Hartshorn then?"

I are going to try and talk Lord Tully into letting us have it here, since they have a Sept and a Godswood. If he refuses, it will likely be Hartshorn or Mountain's Reach."
