"
Make sure I get out of the melee with my honor intact, and I guarantee you a lifetime's invitations to Bartheld revelry!"
Jon answers jokingly. "
Though in all seriousness, if young Davain has his way, this is likely to be the last feast that will measure up to the standards set by his grandfather. That boy has no appreciation for a good party."
"
Oh that would be a pity, given that it is also my first attendance! You must have seen quite a few feasts in your time with House Bartheld. Tell me, when did you join the hospitality with House Bartheld? I am sure the parties helped to convince you at least somewhat"

She drinks deeply, and smiles happily at the company.
"
Have you enjoyed the tourney thus far?"
she asks, directed both at Ser Jorah and Septon Arlyn.

Ellie just raises her glass as her mouth is currently chewing the duck. She grins big with her mouth closed tightly and her cheeks slightly puffed.

Indeed, they were a great aid in securing my steadfast allegiance!"
Jon quips. "
Well, not really. Brom Bartheld and I have been friends ever since we were both prisoners in Lys, more than fifteen years ago. After I came back from the Stepstones, I spent a few years at the court in King's Landing, before I decided to move elsewhere for reasons of my health. I travelled for a while, but then decided to look Brom up and see if his hospitality was as good as I'd heard. And between you and me - it was,"
Jon winks.

Throwing me into the arms of another woman so soon?"
He says in a jesting tone.
I probably shouldn't have said that. Damn it, don't screw this up. Gwyn could still change her mind, and she's the best thing to happen to you in... well, ever.
"
Have no fear - I am yours and yours alone. Tonight I woo for another."
Words, words, words... that's not going to be enough to convince her I've changed. I don't know what will, though.
Gwyn's face is hard to read through the mask and the makeup, to say nothing of her natural reserve at times. His nervousness was...endearing. She had to remind herself that he had cause, and it might be unwise to absolve him too quickly.
And yet, she couldn't be TOO mean. Not for her own heart's sake, nor for his.
She reached out to squeeze his arm quickly, and flash a quick smile.
"
I'm not jealous of Sofia Blackwood,"
said Gwyn. "
I expect she's had quite enough of men for a while. Good luck."

Loreia pans her gaze across the room, noting the popularity of argent in the guests' choice of dress. She notices Daveth for the costume he's chosen. But who is that with him? she wonders. "
White Raven, how are you tonight?"
she bows with a knowing grin. "
Most guests seem to favor white at this party, or somethin' near it, anyway."

He plucked a piece of duck wrapped in bacon off the tray and took a bite.
"
Mhhmmm, you are right Septon, it is very good."
"
Then I believe thanks are in order. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and skill. That is most generous of you."
Corrine follows Jorah in trying the duck, and makes a pleased sound at the taste.
"
Yes the chefs that these bartheld's have found must be divinely inspired."
declares the Septon with the weight of authority. "
I have sampled many fares, mostly from the tables of the small folk, but I have to say that this feast surely is the thing that the minstrels sing of when describing the mighty hero's of old completing their dangerous tasks such as the slaying of dragons and riding or arochs"
With a deep belly laugh the Arlyn continues, "
If only those hero's could see what their great strength has brought to this land now. I wonder how they would feel about all that they had accomplished and if they could go out and do those great deeds again."

It feels good to say that now. I'm not letting mother intimidate me into backing down. This is who I am.
"
And it is good to see you again, Ser Jorah. How fare you?"
The septon stands from his chair and returns the curtsy with and awkard bow, clearly tipsy from all the breverages he had been consuming. "
It is a pleasure to meet you as well."
states the Septon. "
I heard about you from the septon of riverrun, nice fellow that man. Bit too eager to advance his station if you ask me, which you didn't."
chuckles Arlyn. "
He seemed very impressed by you and your husband to be, what was his name again, details slip by me at times."
Grins Septon Arlyn with buoyant smile. "
Anyways he says that the maid was certainly involved in that match for the innocent love that he saw you share for one another. May the seven watch and protect both of the betrothed on this most joyous of evenings!"
Dunkenly whispers the Septon to Lady Corrine

"
The tournament has been delightful."
proclaims the Arlyn."
I never have been involved in a tournament of this size, my duties to my flock often keep me close to home. Lord Dulver, a wise man and cautious ruler, has always stated that the costs of such events are often too high, something about influence not being able to be stored in cellars"
the septon makes a dismissive hand gesture. "
But at any rate maybe with some of the deals we hope to broker he might be more willing to consider the cost, barring any unpleasant surprises."

Dunstan came alone, but was soon enough joined by a Lady in a mask of a fiery fox. He bowed and kissed her hand before leading her to the dance floor, where they danced for quite some time.
Soon they moved to where the drinks are, and proceeded to get pretty tipsy.

"
There is a man who knows the finer things in life!"
Bellowed the Septon as he was coming to get another goblet of "
wine"
*just pressed grapes*. "
So how are you enjoying the festivities?"
he asked. "
have you had a chance to try any of the food here yet?"

Aye my lady, it is well met, and you as well my lord. You both have great costumes!"
beamed the Septon. "
A noble lord leading a noble lady to the ball. Small folk love the stories of romance about the nobles, Its good to meet such good lords and ladies whom live in the light of the seven. And I am Septon Arlyn,"
says the thick man, giving a overzealous bows.

A man arrives and starts speaking the Ser Dustin. As the septon stares at the mans white mask he tries to recognize the creature that is being represented

"
that's quite and interesting mask you have there,"
the septon blurts out interrupting baleon, "
Did the person who sold you the mask tell you where they got it from?"

No, but a member of my house recently returned from Essos said it was of a creature called a 'hrakkar', the fiercest predator of the Dothraki sea. To be honest, I had thought it was just a lion that was left white."

Oh no he didn't...
Corrine's spine stiffens at the Septon blurting out what she was sure had been understood to be private.
Damn that Septon Meribald. Was two dragons not enough to keep quiet?
She smiles politely though, thankful for the mask disguising her expressions somewhat;
"

he introduces his date to Baelon, "

Aye my lady. But never at a ceremony so large as for two nobles. But I have joined many Small folk and merchants before the seven. A joyous occasion for all parties involved. And I imagine that your party will simply be splendid. Wealth has a tendency to lead to extravagant shows. "
