Apologies for the inevitable twist.

In my defence, this is a nod to British (Scottish) history, in keeping with much of ASOIAF.

Mercy from our septon .
Spoilers (and in the name of fairness) opposition in that scene is:
1 primary character
6 Secondary characters [mostly close to average knight profile, some a little better]
7 Tertiary

and do not forget the horses! which I was kind of wondering... are they doubled up on the saddles? I do not have a dog in the race but the description led me to believe that the horses were carrying two men each

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Carrying two men each should give them a penalty of some kind, though I imagine the piggybackers will assist their riders' defenses, and some will hop down and attack the opposing knights' horses. Quick question, when are we supposed to be riding out to reach Harren's Justice in the Early Morning? Will we have a couple hours to sleep, or will we be leaving at Late Night?

They were riding out at first light, I believe, as they were to be there for the 7th hour.

Opponents are mounted in Marei's seven, apologies for any confusion! Was writing in a hurry before I popped out this morning.

Reader, I posted this before in the Meeting Grounds, which in hindsight was probably a mistake since that's mostly for PC's looking for scenes with other PC's.
But I'd like a scene with Isobel the morning of Day 7, when Gwyn goes to warn the Marsten ladies to find somewhere more guarded to wait for the return of our peeps.

Waiting for this fight to resolve makes my heart sad. Can't do anything until it's done.

Mew. I had an idea to give Baelon my farseer, but that didn't get resolved in time.
Sadface.

Don't we have an opportunity to see the group off at first light? Could do that, maybe?

The fight itself has already started playing out, so it would be a bit of a retcon to incorporate it now.
Besides, it would have ruined Readers big reveal. :8-):

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Also, here's a bit of a problem we face:
1. Reader, you make it seem as if the woodsmen dismount before combat, yet no action is taken to that effect, nor any mention of it either.
2. Since Baelon needs a greater action to get to Marei, it's more than 6 or 8, depending on what sort of horse he uses.
3. Since Lionel and crew are portrayed as standing at the opposite end of the plateu, they can thusly be presumed to start beyond chargeable distance, and certainly so for any dismounted troops.
4. The nature of a charge would make it impossible for the one sitting behind on the horse to partake in combat without taking -1D for attacking beyond reach and against +5 defense due to cover from the men right in front of them.
5. We talked a fair bit before stuff happened. Enough time for us to actually get up on our horses.
6. We brought along some prized archers with the intention of them being part of the scouting force and to be present right here and now. Where's their initiative?
7. You never specified the battlefield to *us*, therefore we (at least I), based our actions on the information provided which leads to the above conclusions.
8. Where's Eoric Tully? He doesn't get to hang out with the rearguard, no.
9. Woodsmen and Ser Lionel doesn't get to act yet.
Frankly, this looks a bit like a nasty case of a GM altering the pieces on the fly to create a nasty combat situation for us. The description you gave us would work fine if the whole point was to start off with both sides charging at each other like in Hedge Knight, but what you just did requires a battlemap.

Interesting, is the best thing I can say...
Well maybe Eoric Tuly is hiding nearby just in case since only 7 "
have"
to show up?

Those actions I posted are indeed round 2 and 3. It could maybe be a bit less messy if we posted rolls in one thread and rp in the already existing one?
I could also make a map in gimp but Im afraid I got a bunch of school work to do and papers to write.

After two rounds you lot are piles in the lead. PCs will shred a group of lesser NPCs, as this is demonstrating! I've wounded Dunstan and that's about it. By the end of round two we're already looking at a minimum of three knights down plus my beefy greatsword knight fleeing.
This is a million miles away from a nasty combat situation - it's bloody heroic (some great rolls and sensible actions).
Sorry, all the enemies are on foot! Apologies for any confusion, was in a rush over the weekend.
If people want to start mounting, combat begins automatically and it's just your opening lesser action anyway.
Happy to swap Eoric for Theomore if you want him in the Seven. Apologies, I assumed you guys were brining Seven.
Woodsmen and Ser Lionel aren't acting before they should, put for this kind of thing it's best to post actions first.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Well, now that Ser Kevan has slain two enemies in two rounds and Theomore skewered one Knight and then trampeled the woodsmen, we might rapidly be back on schedule.
Awesome rolling and crafty tactics guys. Heroic stuff, and Dustan has at least taken a manly wound (to impress Marei), so it hasn't been costless.
Next time I kill the horses first.
Impress stuff, but as >
50% of you are fighting 5, this is like a group of people only a rung below the Kingsguard going up against average knights and woodsmen.
Predictably, only the other truly talented character could stand his ground.
COME ON SER LIONEL!

Rofl.
Next time (if Ser Lionel has a next time!) I'm going to give all of my bandits names and personal agendas, or whatever it is they need to qualify as primary characters.
My NPCs don't deserve this.
One of the knights was building a house.
I suppose deserves got nothin' to do with it.

Those fleeing will obviously be caught by our rearguard and scout/archers, correct?

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Much as I'm pleased by the fact that we appear to be winning handily, may I request that in the future you take your time with combats? Because you rushed the setup and describing the actions of Ser Lionel and his band, it was very difficult to make an informed decision about what actions to take. For instance, the fact that none of our opponents were mounted, when they were all mounted in the prior post, comes as some surprise. Not knowing anything about relative distances or the grouping of our foes also made it difficult to pick an action.
Finally, having everything resolved at turbo speed, as is being done now, rather takes the heroic feeling out of everything. Simply put, considering all the build-up from day 6, it feels terribly anticlimactic to have it played out in a series of quickfire posts to get it over with ASAP. I honestly can't say I have a clear picture of my contribution to the fight, other than hitting one knight twice, and then...all other foes were miraculously swept aside before my eyes, leaving no targets to fight?
I do appreciate that you have lots to do, and that other PCs are waiting to get day 7 rolling, but I'm fairly sure that if you had allowed yourself more time to plan and run this fight, it would have been over almost as quickly, since each PC could then have made solid decisions from the beginning, with no need to badger you for extra information and no need for acrimonious posts.
