My NPCs don't deserve this.
I, for one, have no sympathy for stupid.
Did not one of those Knights not think that challenging someone to a battle during a Tourney that has attracted some of the most experienced fighters in Westeros might not be a good idea?
Darwinism at it finest.
Nathan would be appalled at the ineptitude, and the unnecessary loss of life.

I agree with Jon, and think a map makes combats like these much much immersing. GIMP is a free program, very easy to use, it takes about 10 minutes to make a fine looking grid. And than we would have a crystal clear view of the terrain, opponents and we could plan out actions based on that, plus we would implement the movement rules easy enough.
Makes everyone's experience that much better:)

As far as I am aware the loss of life has been minimal (none?). Unless these NPCs are burning destiny points to choose death, we the victors choose their fates.
I for one will be choosing to take captives alive so we can find out how they got their info. Somebody leaked the info of Dunstan's involvement with Marei to them, and that person deserves the headsman's block just s much as Darry and his louts. This doesn't end with the fight. No, it is just beginning.

Yes. Good forethought from the players = a clean sweep unless Ser Lionel can take you all on by himself.

Something else to blame Athelstan for, or more likely who is the religious traitor in the Tullison camp.

Jon Cobb wrote:Much as I'm pleased by the fact that we appear to be winning handily, may I request that in the future you take your time with combats? Because you rushed the setup and describing the actions of Ser Lionel and his band, it was very difficult to make an informed decision about what actions to take. For instance, the fact that none of our opponents were mounted, when they were all mounted in the prior post, comes as some surprise. Not knowing anything about relative distances or the grouping of our foes also made it difficult to pick an action.
Finally, having everything resolved at turbo speed, as is being done now, rather takes the heroic feeling out of everything. Simply put, considering all the build-up from day 6, it feels terribly anticlimactic to have it played out in a series of quickfire posts to get it over with ASAP. I honestly can't say I have a clear picture of my contribution to the fight, other than hitting one knight twice, and then...all other foes were miraculously swept aside before my eyes, leaving no targets to fight?
I do appreciate that you have lots to do, and that other PCs are waiting to get day 7 rolling, but I'm fairly sure that if you had allowed yourself more time to plan and run this fight, it would have been over almost as quickly, since each PC could then have made solid decisions from the beginning, with no need to badger you for extra information and no need for acrimonious posts.
There's give and take on both sides. In particular, players need to remember I'm on their side. I'm not out to shaft people. We can try a map next time, but it's barely worth it for this kind of fight.
Fight is also useful to measure power levels. PCs are very strong against run of the mill opponents. There wasn't much left after two rounds.
PbP will never be perfect, but next time I'll schedule big fights in the evening (actually an old lessons from PbP, but forgotten in haste!). :;

As Ser Baelon says, the clean-up is just as interesting.

I'm not interested in blaming anyone. I doubt the leak had anything to do with religion... rather, I suspect a politically motivated schemer made use of disposable religious zealots.Athelstan wrote:lol

Darry was a pawn even if he thought himself a knight;

It's true. Defeat consequences haven't been chosen yet that I know of. Depends on the player (and if there were any substantial criticals), but in my experience Tertiary characters get ground up pretty quickly.

I'm thinking Athelstan offering gold for info on Dunstan draw attention to that, but someone wanted to make use of the situation. Black knights will get him, and play this as soundtrack:

Because most of the people involved in the fight support the blacks faction, so this entire schting was likely orchestrated by some green schemer.

Yep. I think perhaps Gwyn will make tracking this down her thing for the rest of the tournament. I've been looking for a thing.

From Benedict.
His face becomes a mixture of curiosity and humor. "
Lady Isobel serves as experience. Ser Baelon for his political persuasion and martial skill. Ser Kevan for his military prowess. Lord Kriegar to appease his loss and even the bannerhouse playing field. Well done."
He looks at her with a certain pride. "
But what of Gwyn and Edmund, who I have not met?"

Or maybe it was a plan by the greens to get all of the major black supporters out of the city so they could complete some nefierious against the houses that support the black while all of there military strength is away

That was in reference to Edmund. I should have separated it to avoid confusion. Corrine knows I know Gwyn! :;

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Though Ben would have known Edmund from his prior time at Hartshorn, too.
EDIT: Excerpt from the Marsten timeline, relevant bits bolded:
112 AL (12 yrs ago) Edmund becomes page to House Marsten, Mikael leaves for Essos [Lyras timeline, Campaign guide states Mikael left when Gwyn was 7]
~113 AL (~11 yrs ago) Benjamin Blackthorne becomes a squire to Ser Markus [largely assumption: if Ben was knighted at 16, and that he became a squire at 11]
114 AL (10 yrs ago) Kevan leaves to serve as a squire in Riverlands
116 AL (8 yrs ago) Youngest Marsten son born [per house description he died at age 5, see 121 AL]
118 AL (6 yrs ago) Benjamin Blackthorne knighted, Eldest two Marsten sons die in battle (presumably at age 14 or older)[Ben's bio, 3 years prior to death of Lord Corben, see 121 AL]
119 AL (5 yrs ago) Kevan swears his sword to House Marsten [Lyras timeline]
120 AL (4 yrs ago) Edmund departs as part of a mission to find Mikael [per Lyras timeline]
121 AL (3 yrs ago) Lord Corben &
youngest son die, Maester Leopold dismissed from service [per Corrine's bio, House Description]
Note that the arrival of Ben at Hartshorn in 113 is based on two huge assumptions, so that may not be accurate. Ben, feel free to correct my assumptions.
Also, did whether Ben left immediately upon being knighted or stuck around longer is unclear as well.

He left when Leopold left. I will try to play with the numbers and work him and ages in with it, but this timeline helps a lot thanks.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Had to do some revamping and will edit my background accordingly. The changes are mainly due to the background event and Ben and Ellie's age gap.
117 Background event @ 14 7
118 Squired @ 15 ( late age is due to it not originally being his intended path.)
120 Knighted @ 17 (the short servitude due to advanced age and prior martial training)
121 Left @ 18 when Leopold did.
122-Tourney Served @ 19-21 House Blackwood 14
Think that covers it. Any errors or paradoxes let me know. Besides the last battle with Corben
knighting, which I will edit. I am glad to have finally been pushed to work that out. That timeline made it much easier.

Glad it helped! It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. It's been great for figuring out who knew who when and things like that.
I'll edit in your adjustments when I get a chance.
