If you want to take part in the melee you can fight in a separate group and attempt to qualify for the final, but Ser Derrock should sportingly retire at the final (earning 1 glory) as he's coming to this party a little late (retiring allows you to then join the watchers and meet people)! Beyond that, I'll get to your PM and there are many existing events to roll for to build some more IC background. You can't "
win"

While most of the PCs aren't true combat specialists (bravo all on creating well rounded characters), many of you are an appropriate House Champion level fighter for many houses. NPC reactions and the success you've largely enjoyed should help underline that.
