fools the lot of 'em. Onions are awesome - tasty, nutritious, and the subject of an infamous monologue in Ibsen's eponymous Peer Gynt, in which the character of the same name compares himself to an onion, peeling off layer after layer only to find that there really wasn't anything underneath it all.Benedict Blackthorne wrote:Not everybody likes onions.

He's back (in black?).
Delighted to have him back and a mercy to your beleaguered narrator. D9 was supposed to be quiet. :;

He made a return yesterday, though annoyingly is absent now that his presence is required. Same with Baelon. I need to wait for them, sorry.

No stress, would just be a shame to wait for something that won't happen, with all of this urgency you have peaked my curiosity.
Have you found out about Yorens evil masterplan

In fairness, the only agreement I am aware of between Yoren and House Bartheld is a payment to his House of 400 GD in return for Yoren's personal public support. I went back and checked the threads, and while Yoren may have called it a treaty, it essentially boiled down to a bribe. Remember that I made it very clear to everyone I talked to that I was seeking personal support, not House support for Davain.
And except for Lord Tullison, everyone else demanded payment in some form for their support, sometimes benefiting them, usually benefiting their House or some House objective. Yoren was not alone in that regard.

It's more complicated than that... the deal that Corrine was referring to was not directly between Yoren and House Bartheld.
- Yoren promised troops to Corrine.
[/*31ck14sp] - Wrecker Jon and Fendrel promised troops in return for my personal support, and talking to other members of House Marsten about supporting Fendrel - which I did, albeit 'off screen'. Jon made it clear that they would likely be mercenary troops. I assumed that House Bartheld would hiring mercenaries through the usual house action method, representing Jon getting his mercenary company from the Blackwood/Bracken spat.
[/*31ck14sp] - Wrecker Jon then negotiated with Septon Arlyn for 'Dulver Turnips', which is a nickname for House Dulver's military forces, due to some interesting events in a previous conflict.
[/*31ck14sp] - Septon Arlyn then negotiates with Yoren for troops to serve with House Bartheld in the place of actual Dulver troops.[/*31ck14sp]
Now, IC we only knew about the first two until the Septon's letter, which brought the others to light.... which is why all of this is happening now and not earlier in the tourney.
So, Yoren is getting paid twice to supply troops to the Marsten clan war, and we are apparently getting two units where we were expecting four. Also Septon Arlyn pulled a bait-and-switch on Wrecker Jon, but that doesn't really matter to us, per se... though it might matter to the House Bartheld leadership.

I dislike posting from anything other than a real computer... posting from phone/tablet is just too much of a hassle, and most days I'm rarely unable to get to a computer for more than an hour or so.Benedict Blackthorne wrote:Thank you Baelon. Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
I can't speak for Davain Bartheld...
But since Septon Arlyn hasn't the authority to negotiate the pouring of a glass of water on behalf of House Bartheld... It would certainly matter to me.
Thanks for the clarification.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Jon's death brought the issue to light, but also makes it more complicated to resolve. I am assuming he told Fendrel, which is why he was invited... and according the Septon's letter (which IC I have not seen, hence Baelon's surprise) Davain got a similar letter, so he should know about it now, too.

I can think of a few simple ways to resolve it...
But since I am not there and blissfully ignorant, I will simply read the thread OOC with interest.
