I'm not unsporting enough to lock your account with admin tools.
More seriously, thanks for being such a big part of the game - an active Corrine takes weight off the narrator's shoulders with the Chronicle starter set-up. I'm lucky to have so many active, engaged players.
Anyway - I demand credit for the tons of PMs I respond to. :;

Corrine you are a great role-player. I love reading the comment between you and benedict.

Nathaniel Mason wrote:Nathan's eyes unfocus for some time, seeming to stare blankly into space. Corrine could almost see his mind analyzing the information.
"
I will look into this for you, my Lady."
he finally replied. "
We shall see what can be brought to light."
"
Given his opinions of your mother, it is unlikely that he will hold you in any higher regard, probably much less given your age. This can be used to your advantage. I suggest you act very inexperienced when dealing with him or those he deals with. He will likely underestimate you and that is to be encouraged."
"
Since many of Ser Jon's men are familiar with me and my profession, we cannot lie about me, but we can cast it in a different light. We will say that I am simply accompanying Ser Jon as his bedmate. I will play the fool, and you will be charmed by my engaging personality."
Nathan grinned. "
We will also let it be known that I am exceptionally wealthy, and Ben can spread the rumor that my vast wealth was probably amassed by less then scrupulous means."
"
If he is the opportunist that you claim, he will not be able to resist a less than honorable man with the ear of the new, inexperienced, and impressionable Lady Marsten, or the vast amount of wealth I represent. The man is obviously clever. The best way to catch a clever man is give him opportunities to out-smart himself."
Yay for Nathaniel! It's like we're getting to see the first steps from a young, uncut Varys.
One concern - does that mean Jon Roxton is Illyrio Mopatis, the talented sword fighting companion? Bold Ser Jon doesn't want to end up as a great big fat fuck.
Looking forward to seeing how this thread develops - strong Offseason activity potential.

Gwyneth Marsten wrote:"
I'm looking for leads,"
she answers. "
Specifically, trying to track down how they found out about Dunstan's...paramour."
She can't quite conceal her distaste at the last word.
"
As for why...there's a couple of reasons. First, it feels very fishy to me that Darry and his men would just happen to target Dunstan on their own. I suspect they may have been guided in his direction by information supplied by another. If so, then they were only a weapon of someone else...and that someone else is still unknown. Who knows what motivated him to strike out against Dunstan? Maybe it will be someone else next time."
"
Secondly, I may soon be in a position where the remnants of the Faith Militant will be more of a personal concern of mine, no matter who is or isn't guiding them."
Hooray to Gwyn - this is another interesting angle for the remains of the tourney/more likely the Offseason personal goals.

Theomore, if you were wondering how deep our little talk is meant to go, I'm not trying to pick away at him with simple intrigues. I'm hoping we could go into what she thinks of the settlement between our houses, and touch base in-character how each regards the other. I'm deliberately glossing over this explanation to make the actual roleplay more meaningful and enlightening than just telling.

Ah, but I am awaiting him in a couple of threads, hehe. I'm not seeing it as a serious competition anyway.

It's only a matter of time. As always, delighted to have engaged players.
Brief odds and ends tonight but tired from CCG tourney (I say this after every tournament, but who gets knackered playing cards?! Me evidently). Third place, with my cousin taking first. Family honour defended.

Well done!
I don't think it's odd to be tired. I get knackered just taking the bin out.

Due to passive attack crap rule, yes. Also, you guys really need to gang up on Baelon or Loreth if you want a shot at winning this thing. Going against someone else is basically handing those two the victory.

I think Reader will take care of Loreth. Baelon is a different story. But with the set up it is basically a prisoners' dilemma. Everybody would be better off by focusing on the main threat, but hanging back and waiting is better personally, as long as not everybody is doing that:-)

Constructive rules debate in the mechanics thread is welcome, but please make the tone a little more positive.
Kevan - Loreth and even an injured Ser Jon are both pretty dangerous. Hopefully we're set for a fine finish!

It's Nash (rip) game theory! If one of you goes for Baelon, (s)he will lose, but if neither takes on Baelon, then they'll both lose beautiful! Yoren would have been impressed, if it hadn't been for that he wants Loreia to show these southerners!

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Funny thing is that Baelon is not really super dangerous... Ben actually has a slight edge in a straight fight. Of course, I've been able to conserve resources and Ben hasn't, so this isn't exactly a straight fight.
Also, there are far too many variables to consider this a simple Prisoner's dilemma. There are a variety of stochastic and non-stochastic variables that could have significant impacts on the win-loss conditions in the four PD quadrants... and more than two decision makers, for that matter. I'll not geek out on it too much here... I used to be involved with a PD-based programming competition, each team would write a software 'prisoner' which would then compete against other 'prisoners' in repeat trials;
in the end the team whose 'prisoner' spent the least amount of time 'in jail' got a prize.

True enough, Loreth is probably the most dangerous in this crop. But by the looks of it, he's winning by doing what Theo would have attempted to do: stay out of the cruncher whenever he can.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
The way I see it, Ben's lower AR is worth the trade-off of the +1 CD to go after him, since he has a -3 penalty to his rolls that Baelon doesn't. On top of that, I had trouble with Dunstan's 10AR, I've learned a lesson there. With Ben, I won't need to drop my shield to get my hits past Ben's armor. I have to try for those injuries to get him to yield. Other than that, teaming up is still a possibility...

You have that backwards, Ben has the higher AR and lower CD of the two of us. The fatigue penalty difference is significant, though. Yeah, full plate is nice stuff. Needing 3 DoS to get through it is rough. My last character only had 3 Athletics and a spear, so I need 4 DoS to get through it - and even then only for 2 damage. That's where something like Shattering or Axe Fighter II can come in handy, and where knockdowns can make a big difference.

Axe Fighter 2 still requires you to actually deal damage. But when you do....you win.

I'm no expert, but in my opinion it's when you get to axe fighter 3 things gets messy: succeed a Endurance test against the opponents fighting roll or burn a destiny point

Oh, right. I was looking at Loreth's stats. Still, less CD, can't argue with that.
Hahaha, "
I don't always deal damage, but when I do, I deal damage on your turn as well."
It's the same with Long Blades, Yoren. Although the difficulty there is a fixed requirement of 3DoS. Hmm...

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
IMO, that one just makes AXF II even more nasty, but the general combat applications are slim. I'd stick with AXF II, and don't invest more in axe bonus dices since 3 is quite enough for regular fun, and I'd be sacrificing them anyway for wounds.
AXF II is evil, IMO, it's power is stronger than quite a few of the <
weapon of choice>
III benefits. I almost regret not making a Longshore with it, that character would have a field trip in the wake of the Athelstan killing Roddrick thing...maybe next game, maybe.
