I dunno. These are zealots - would they really use their faith as a lie, so that they can then betray the tenets of the very faith they are fighting for?

The PCs here do seem surprisingly accepting, yes. Between Ironborns, bastards, kinslayers and warrior women, I'm surprised the most conflict that seems to have arisen is spoiled marriages. I could've missed something, though.
