Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
There is a world of difference between the type of objective and the details of the objective. Also, depending on the specific objective, even the impression of type given by the RP could be incorrect- trying to get someone to reveal information will rarely be as straightforward as "Nathaniel Mason wrote:Baelon wrote:
In general, what type of objective is in play should be quite easy to figure out from the RP - Friendship, Service, Information, etc.
Then there should be no problem stating the objective.
tell me if you were behind the Blackwood assassination"
.
That would be quite bad, but can only happen if there is an expectation of knowledge about what the objective is. If a player were to say OOC what their objective was and then have a different objective, that would be a problem. However you can't be hoodwinked if you were never told in the first place.Nathaniel Mason wrote:But the most substantial harm is when the player feels they have been hoodwinked or taken advantage in some way unfairly. In which case their participation IC diminishes or they leave the game completely.Baelon wrote:I have the opposite question - where is the IC harm in a hidden objective?
Actually, we have met(the Dulver double-dealing clan war meeting), though not had any significant interaction... though I've suspected for a while now that we are on a trajectory leading towards having a face to face confrontation. Enough so that I've put some thought into how to play it out.Nathaniel Mason wrote:Since Baelon and Nathan have yet to meet, even after all this time, probably very little.
EDIT: Grammar. I really shouldn't post literally minutes after waking up, before my morning coffee.

Nathan, I asked because this thread is meant to be for non-game, off-topic sort of talk. It's not meant to be for debating about the game.

Perhaps we should have a dedicated thread for non-rule game discussions then. Since you believe such a discussion is inappropriate here, and I believe much of the discussion goes beyond the debate of game mechanics.
Still, in the interest of keeping peace, here is a video with kittens.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Can you tell the kind of mood I am in?
I spent the afternoon roasting a 10lb Prime Rib and a vat of mushroom gravy.
I am now eating large hunks of medium rare meat with my fingers (the easier to dunk them in the gravy) while watching reruns of Spongebob.

Advantage of having a friend that's bouncer: I can't drink too much or she'd kill me...

I understand.. but it's my go-to for mindless drivel.
The red wine is in the gravy.

That's nice, my daughter is grounded and as punishment she is watching me eat the candy she got last night, while I drink some beer.

Isn't the Celebrationdays one of the worst times to be a nurse? With all the obnoxious drunk people?

Re: General Non-game Chat Thread
I created Dunstan in CK2 and played a bit on my friends computer yesterday. Had to be a vassal to the Freys.
It was fun. It would be awesome to play with you guys in multiplayer.

I like TW better, medieval has a great mod for westeros, unfortunately multiplayer is a bit slow...

Re: General Non-game Chat Thread
Difference is you control a certain character that governs a piece of land and go through history. When he dies the heir inherits and you play as him, and so on..
You can arrange marriages, create plots, assassinate other people.. it's really fun, but has a steep learning curve.
