Here is a picture I found. I enjoyed the fact that it was detailed, while still being enjoyable just to watch.
Very pretty.

How did ya'll first come into roleplaying games?

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
I used to mess around with Car Wars and Battletech just because I was a sci fi fan, and loved customizing and creating cars and mechs and stuff. Car Wars later branched into more RPG content, as did Battletech with Mechwarrior stuff, with options for characters and so on, and I found I really liked making characters too.
From there I got into Megatraveller and Rifts...still not actually PLAYING them, mind...just building vast swaths of characters. An endless parade. Each with stories attached, some in groups, some not.
It wasn't until I was in college I actually found other people to PLAY with. Started out with GURPS, and when I moved out of that area after college I found people interested in playing online. Once I tapped into THAT vein, my portfolio of systems exploded quickly, as did the sheer volume of games I was involved in.

I started playing a form of larp with just me and my cousins. They lived across town though so I was not able to play with them much. But they allowed me to barrow there dnd books and so I spent a lot of time creating stories that features as many plot twists as my 12 yr old brain could imagine. Then I got older and did the theater bit. But it was not until I got to my twenties that I started playing a rpgs regularly. Started a soiaf campaign and was viewing the boards and found this pbp.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
My brother and I, inspired by Tolkien and the other fantasy books we read voraciously, started coming up with stories in which fantastical versions of ourselves were the protagonists - we called it 'playing dungeons and dragons' because all we knew about dungeons and dragons were the ads we saw for it (I mostly remember ads for the SSI AD&
D computer games).
Then came HeroQuest, in which we were never satisfied with the pre-written adventures, so we made our own.Then I had my first real experience with AD&
D 2e in high school - a one-off game. College saw my first campaign, and a plethora of system diversification and dabbling... as life moved me from place to place I had less time and knew less gamers in person, so I stared playing PbP.

As an aside, the forum would, perhaps, be a bit more lively if folks who said they'd do stuff for AtMC would do the things.

as far as I can tell we are waiting for people to step up for map creation, not waiting for someone to do a task they already volunteered for.

Someone was supposed to do that ages ago. Why is it even important? Can't we just roll for each unit against each clan unit and find out who wins? It all seems needlessly complicated.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
It was talked about ages ago, but no one volunteered. Sure, we could do a dicefest roll off to determine the winner or even just toss a coin... but where's the fun in that? We could do the same for everything, but it would be kind of boring. Like trying to play chess by Just pairing arbitrary pieces and seeing which wins.Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:Someone was supposed to do that ages ago. Why is it even important? Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
I actually dipped in and out in my childhood. At one point I actually ran an adventure from a Fighting Fantasy book for a group of my friends, but they didn't enjoy it enough for it to be more than a 1-off thing. At another point, I played a couple of sessions while at an activity holiday. In one that I think was D&
D, I was killed by the remains of my own party when we realised we were doomed because I was cowardly;
in a modern military one, I had my head cut off by machine gun fire. Needless to say, after that, I was definitely interested in the hobby, but it wasn't until university and I joined the roleplaying society (with a Feng Shui game that had something like 9 players at its peak!) that I really got hooked.
The old Infinity Engine PC games almost certainly played their part, as well. Playing Baldur's Gate was an incredible experience for me at the time, and Planescape:Torment is probably still my favourite game.

So Ser Benjen escaped... I see a lot of problems for Septon Arlyn in the future. At least he will not have the backing of his house anymore.

The open backing of his House. I'm sure they'll secret him all the help they feel they can get away with.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Well, to be fair, Theo did not exactly anticipate Benjen escaping...or rather, anticipate anyone wanting to *help* him escape. And him taking the black works just as well as him being dead for his purposes. Dead at the hands of Lord Bracken would add a certain political touch to it, though.
I sorta want to have Theo/Raff with a finger in the escape pie, but I sadly cannot really think of any IC reason as to why either of them would even consider such a thing, though Raff might say some choice words about how easily the crows could be ambushed on account that they mostly worry about their recruits deciding to run for it that Hamish might overhear just because, he's Raff, and he'd like to see if Hamish would act on those words.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Just a suggestion: if Benjen gets to the wall and starts contemplating. If he contemplates too much, he may suspect foul play. He may then see a clear Tullison appearance through the tournament. Even the chance of him telling this to his father is best avoided, so you aid his escape, so you can take him out;

He's escaped en route to the wall, so if he does any contemplating, it'll be elsewhere.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Benjen is too daft for Theo to consider whatever might go through his mind as a threat. Plus, the septon and the Lucases amongst others made a good job at directing the rage their way.

Athelstan is back and deadlier than ever!
Will we get ab offseason story from you as well, maybe a tale on the consequences from the tourney after returning back home?
