Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
On the note of winning/losing, whether it be in trial by combat, house objectives, upcoming jousts etc:
- Even if you don't "
win"
the official objective/contest, engaging with the game and taking part will be rewarded mechanically at the end of the story (qualities, ranks in specialities etc, friendship with NPCs, money etc). Have faith! These objectives are mainly to drive some fun conflict, but they're not the only prize. Hard work and good posting is rewarded.
- Everyone should remember that most of the characters in ASOIAF don't win all the time (or that much at all), but the story is still enjoyable. That said, if anyone is miserable, let me know what I can do to fix it.
Everybody has been cool so far, long may this continue.

Suggestion: the musicians don't hear Dunstan's shouted request, and start playing another song (Gwen and Ben Dance to the new song)Gwyneth Marsten wrote: Dunstan, for some reason...who knows why...was a little late. Maybe just by minutes.
Dunstan goes up to the musicians and requests his song. Gwen and Dunstan dance to the requested song.

Really decent proposal.
I don't want to fight Baelon I can feel he is a creepy combat monster in disguise with athletics 5 endurance 5 or something sneaky.

I think that's settled already. But he can't have 5 for all the stats:)

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
That's probably because those are characters in a story, not someone's PC. It's a whole lot less entertaining crawling through a river of shit when it's you that's doing the crawling. I'm fine with there being no auto-wins, but if I wanted to experience the joys of being constantly stymied, no matter how good the RP or dice rolls, I'd just stay at my day job 24/7. :;Reader wrote:On the note of winning/losing, whether it be in trial by combat, house objectives, upcoming jousts etc:

Yeah, I do feel that, when it comes to a game, being able to catch a break is important.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
It seemed to me like Jon Cobb is doing pretty well, all things told. He's really schmoozing up some support for his man, that's for sure.
And Isobel seems like she's warming up to him too.
Where's the stymie?
...
Or was it more of a general statement, rather than a complaint about the game so far?
Hee. I may have jumped to a conclusion there.

It looks far better from the outside than from the inside, I assure you. I fully expect the reversals to start piling up soon... :;Gwyneth Marsten wrote:It seemed to me like Jon Cobb is doing pretty well, all things told. He's really schmoozing up some support for his man, that's for sure.

And all Jon really wanted was to make some cash and find some nice, accommodating (and rich!) women to party with.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
haha! keep in mind that he is a hybrid character. He's good in a fight, but not a combat monster. As much as I keep RPing confidence and talking smack, there is a real chance of him losing.Athelstan wrote:I don't want to fight Baelon I can feel he is a creepy combat monster in disguise with athletics 5 endurance 5 or something sneaky.
That's what keeps it exciting! I want to win all the time, but I don't want it to be too easy (that's boring);
those two things are in conflict and the latter is the one that wins most of the time.
I suspect in terms of experience spent on combat attributes they are about the same. Actually, I think Athelstan has the edge there. Further, it has already been revealed that I have three intrigue benefits, so I cannot have any combat benefits;
so again Athelstan has the edge. The big difference will be the distribution of stats, our combat tactics, and above all: the dice.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Geez, nobody is being stymied. Events have been deliberately kept open to allow people to take part, ret-cons allowed etc. There will be setbacks, but that's the nature of a game.
Players are important and I appreciate everyone contributing, you guys make the story I just provide a framework.
Any complaints, feel free to PM me, post to your private forum or even take it public.
I just want everyone to have fun.

No complaints from me.
A) I haven't done much
B) I saw an excuse to say, "
True dat."
, which I can't pass up.

You did alright here - I'm not saying that Jon is crawling through a river of shit, just that I wouldn't like it if the game started to display such tendencies.Lady Corrine Marsten wrote:I got the impression Jon was speaking generally, but I must confess I am not adept at reading people.

That's what I thought. I too would be troubled by incessant character torture.
