I posted initiative and will also post orders, if I am online at "

turn. But as with the melee fight of Loreia, everybody (and that includes our new players) is encouraged to step in and act on behalf of Ser Steffon...

Marrying Dyana would be a mistake."

Besides, there's no reason that EVERY betrothal in this game should only last a matter of weeks...
I try, I try.Reader wrote:Top ship sinking Baelon, or at least attempted ship sinking.
Really though, I'm not just making trouble for the sake of making trouble... or even for the sake of having an interesting narrative arc.
I really think that, politically speaking, Dyana just isn't the right choice.

Hello everyone. I thought this would be an appropriate place to ask a question that has been impeding me: what are the legal and moral considerations vis-Ã -vis taking a character portrait from, say, deviantart, to use here. I think I finally found one that works for my character, but I wasn't sure whether it was cool to up and nab it.

It's totally ok to do that. Just credit the artist in your sig. Mine is from DA, and I just have the artist's credit in my sig.

Hey all you people. I'm just letting you know I'm removing my character's surname. She probably shouldn't have one anyway, but I dunno, maybe things are different on Bear Island, and frankly it just doesn't make sense to me that the majority of even smallfolk wouldn't use surnames, if only to differentiate from that guy Bob who sells oysters at the docks from that guy Bob who sells...a different kind of oyster deeper in the dregs of Flea Bottom(most decrepit/lawless folks in Flea Bottom probably don't bother anyway). So for now, surname = gone, until I can come up with something better. I just really don't like it, it's just bad.

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
Surnames during middle ages is mostly a phenomenon among those who's family matter (nobles, merchant houses) and where the community is so large that there's a need for the extra distinction, and in the latter case, that might perhaps only apply if someone has a need to actually differentiate.
Using a patronym or your profession (Miller, Smith etc..which usually where what your father also had) sufficed for a very long time for most people. Then sometime in much more recent history, they started to keep these surnames, John Smith would use the Smith surname even if his grandfather was the last actual smith in the family. Bob and Jim Andrewson might be the children of Martin Andrewson, their grandfather being the Andrew in question.
The two oyster selling Bob's might be old Bob and young Bob, or tall Bob and short Bob.

Two points:
1) This will making sending PMs easier for me when I need to type your name. :;
):
2) You've already earned a grander title from Prince Daemon by strength of character and worthy deeds rather than birth!

There are even "
important"
people who didn't use surnames! But "
normal"
people could have surnames as well, it's really not set in stone, if you want a surname it's easily justifiable, if you don't want it that is justifiable too;

Right, hopeful of being able to start story 2 tomorrow. First day of story 2 will last two weeks like last time (in part because I'll be travelling).
Forum skeleton is in place, will paste in area descriptions tomorrow hopefully and kick things off with the official events (these work slightly differently this time, more of a static list of events that you can try/retry with hidden TNs and information to learn and then bicker over).

You surely used up a ton of bad luck in your skirmish. :?
At least it made for a close outcome!

Re: General OOC Chatter Thread
I tried looking up new musical interpretations of Song of Ice and Fire or Game of Thrones. All you ever find are covers and remixes of music by Ramin Djawadi. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but can't some people out there get truly original? Have you guys found any new music inspired by Song of Ice and Fire?
