I find the ASOIAF storylines very emotionally draining. I'm not sure why I stick with it. But I think I do like things about the setting and the richness of it, so that allows me to enjoy some of it, and this game, of course. But with the show and game, I have been so close to done so many times.
I think I like it because it doesn't give me what I desperately want, and I keep thinking it will, and it doesn't... and just goes against everything I read or watch in any other fantasy.

I wonder if this particular chapter has too much house politics in it. Harder for characters to walk around being awesome when there are so many things we feel they must do.

Why don't you lot have a think about what you guys want from the next few stories then and I'll see what I can do, but I'll confess I enjoy the politics - it drives the plot for this period and is one of the things I like about Westeros.
Can make stories more personal next time, but was hoping to strike that balance with the offseason.
Also, none of you will care about this, but Chinese gas prices were cut today, just as I was in China reviewing the topic. Massive good news professionally!

Glad you're doing well!
To be honest, I was happy until Minegate. Dealing with the fallout of that is what is sapping the fun for me, personally. I can see a lot of OOC complaining about me coming up because I'm going to have to pull rank just to avoid things getting even more complicated.

Well, I kinda enjoy it, but the problem is more that it brings out the competitive edge, and that leads to friction.
I'd like to see more NC's to pick fights with, as it's probably generally better if the player houses are more or less on the same team and agree that the villains are the NC's. Of course, some PC's might decide to get in bed with the enemy even so. Literally in some cases.

I really enjoy the politics. I also like that a PC is in charge, as it seems a lot more organic that way. I think that friction happens regardless and PCs should be able to pick sides, but it should not create OOC friction.
Role play should be challenging for Characters, I wouldn't enjoy having a week of simply drinking tea...

Maybe I should drop the house objectives? That might help. I was worried about people lacking direction. Maybe I can tweak things about, clear PvP prior with me etc?
Theo, remember if you're unhappy with something it's good to offer a constructive suggestion to keep the tone positive.
As positive as Chinese gas stocks reacting to some exciting stock market news today!
Fuck yeah stock market jokes!

No! Please don't do that. I enjoyed the house objectives. While the objectives for story 2 are very good and also fit the story and the set up, I specially liked the various "
smaller"
objectives we had in story 1. With these multiple smaller objectives, I felt everybody in a house had some open storyhooks to follow on that fit their character and playstyle and that would lead to some consequences for the house as a whole.
So if change is coming, I was hoping for more of these hooks

Re: General Non-game Chat Thread
Cheers Kevan, glad those were appreciated in s1 and missed in s2. They were indeed designed to give some player driven story hooks in season 1. Most houses deliberately had an internal issue to resolve and an external issue to encourage forming links inside and outside the house. They'll probably make a comeback.
Should we move this to a new thread (as it's big picture stuff) or the game thread? I think I'm polluting the telltale games chat. :;

Well, as far as I know we haven't gotten house objectives This time around? Maybe I've missed something?
How about putting the next event at rewarding Harrenhall? There the intriguers can intrigue, we can put a joust for jousters, anybody can be put in a fight. It may devolve to include mass combat. Knowledge may tell you the law. It is huge opportunity to work together. A pc (like Ben in this one) can be put in charge and must weigh political expediency and who would be best at ruling. Perhaps Dunstan?

I am never sure if you do it intentionally or not Yoren but it makes me laugh either way. Especially to imagine Corrine's IC reaction. Ben is not in charge. Just ask Baelon he has graciously pointed it out. Any power Ben has comes through Corrine. She is in charge of this debacle. :;

I just thought you were in charge so long, and then it's hard to remember that what you think is wrong. I have the same issues with atoms, even though they have been divisible for all of my life, I still look at them as the smallest particle :;

Seriously though, a Captain goes down with his ship. So if my Lady sinks so do I.

They are hard work (most can't be prewritten) but people really seem to like them and add something to the game.
